Art Metrano
He gave life to Lieutenant Mauser, the most ruthless and humiliating officer for his men in “Police Academy 2”. Actor Art Metrano, who has played numerous films and series, passed away on September 8, 2021, at the age of 84 at his residence in Aventura, Florida.
Born on September 22, 1936, in Brooklyn (New York), Arthur Metrano –his full name– made his debut in the unknown film Rocket Attack USA , as a truck driver. From that moment on he lavished himself on various successful series such as Ironside and Bewitched . He achieved some notoriety in the United States with his appearances as a magician on The Tonight Show .
After becoming one of the protagonists of the series The Stooges of Chicago , Art Metrano was only offered small roles in titles such as The Crazy History of the World , where he gave life to Leonardo DaVinci, or Living without breath . He joined the police saga that was all the rage in the 80s in Crazy Police Academy 2: his first mission , where his character, Lieutenant Mauser, a guy who ends up in charge of the center, imposing terror among the men from him He reprized in the third part, and voiced his character in the animated series.
Married to Rebecca Chute, with whom he had four children, he ended up divorcing.
Unfortunately, in 1989 Art Metrano suffered a domestic accident that severely damaged his spinal cord and left him confined to a wheelchair. Following that event, he went on stand-up tours entitled Jews Don’t Belong On Ladders… An Accidental Comedy , with which he raised more than $75,000 to finance a project to investigate spinal cord injuries and help disabled people. He went on to play movie roles, such as a vigilante in Toys , and played a judge on the popular series LA Law .
