Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry to quit social media until the platforms tackle online abuse
Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry has announced that he will be disabling his social media handles until some racist social users are held accountable for their posts.
This, however, is coming after the likes of black footballers including Marcus Rashford, Raheem Sterling and Tyrone Mings complained about the racist abuse they receive on social media.
The football legend said social media platforms are not holding their users accountable for their racist attack on people.
He also added that he will return to the platforms when such people have been held accountable.

“Hi, Guys.
“From tomorrow morning I will be removing myself from social media until the people in power are able to regulate their platforms with the same vigour and ferocity that they currently do when you infringe copyright.
“The sheer volume of racism, bullying and resulting mental torture to individuals is too toxic to ignore. There HAS to be some accountability.
“It is far too easy to create an account, use it to bully and harass without consequence and still remain anonymous.
“Until this changes, I will be disabling my accounts across all social platforms. I’m hoping this happens soon.”

However, reacting to the shocking and terrible situation, a user also commented on what Henry tweeted:
Every account should be verified.
All accounts should be linked to a passport/license or another form of identification.
Wouldn’t be so many hero’s posting racist abuse or bullying of any form when it can be tracked back.
It’s a shame it coming to this but change is required.

Finally someone mentions how it’s easier to get suspended for copyright than racism. They evidently have the power to do it, they just choose not to. Big up Thierry x
