Armie Hammer
He has literally gone from being doubly secondary in “The Social Network” to important roles like those of “J. Edgar” and, above all, “The Lone Ranger.” His air of a good person makes him the ideal actor to embody men of principle. That can help his promising career…or be a liability. Time will tell.
Armie Hammer, who has nothing to do with the legendary British horror film studios, was born in Los Angeles on August 28, 1986 in Los Angeles, California. Nothing presaged her future dedication to acting, since her parents work in the world of banking, and support various philanthropic causes promoted by a great-great-grandfather, an oil magnate. There are those who have dedicated themselves to tracing Armie’s pedigree, that she has a brother, and she has discovered Jewish ancestors in Russia, about which she likes to joke. If she had lived through the time of the witch hunt, perhaps Armie would have had a hard time, because one of her relatives founded the communist party in New York; she should have then invoked her blood ties to a tsarist general.
Be that as it may, in the first years of his life the family moved twice, once to Dallas, the other to the famous tax haven of the Cayman Islands. Returning to Los Angeles at the age of twelve, it seems that at school he took a liking to plays, even taking part in the musical “Annie”. Although he saw clearly that he wanted to dedicate himself to acting, his parents advised him to train academically, and he attended Pasadena City College and UCLA.
His first acting jobs on the small screen are almost anecdotal, from 2005 to 2007 he manages to appear briefly in Arrested Development , Veronica Mars and Desperate Housewives . In cinema, her debut in the family Flicka is nothing to get excited about. She will achieve more presence in 2009 in the television series Gossip Girl and Reaper .
Then he is lucky enough to get entangled in David Fincher ‘s The Social Network (2010) with the double role of the twins Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss who will see how the smart Mark Zuckerberg knows how to get a piece of a certain brilliant idea that would give rise to Facebook, which would end provoking a war in the courts. In this same year he married Elizabeth Chambers, an actress with a rather discreet career.
From here he went on to work under the orders of none other than Clint Eastwood in J. Edgar (2011), the biopic of the first FBI director, where he gives life to Clyde Tolson, Hoover’s faithful companion, played by Leonardo DiCaprio . and of which a certain homosexual attraction is suggested on the tape, although none of this has been confirmed by historians. As if he were living a fairy tale, he landed the role of prince in Snow White with Julia Roberts as stepmother, Snow White (Mirror, Mirror) (2012).
And without fear of being outshone by Johnny Depp playing the Indian and the Fool, he has been the ranger who believes in laws and justice in The Lone Ranger (2013). Precisely, Depp assures of his co-worker that he “committed himself completely to this role, that he interpreted it perfectly and did it with humor; he didn’t want to be the ‘cool guy’, so to speak. It was a dream to work with him and I feel like I made a good friend in Armie.” And Gore Verbinski , the director, says that he liked Hammer because he doesn’t exude cynicism, but pure ideals.
Among the projects managed by this rising actor is The Man from UNCLE, an adaptation of a spy television series known in Spain as The CIPOL agent. He will be accompanied in the cast by none other than Henry Cavill ‘s Man of Steel .
