ARIANNA HUFFINGTON: EARLY CHILDHOOD, EDUCATION AND CAREER
Arianna Huffington was born on July 15, 1950, in Athens, Greece, which makes her Greek. She was born to her Greek parents, her father Konstantinos, a journalist and management consultant, and her mother Elli Stasinopoulou. Arianna also has a sister named Agapi who is also an author, speaker and performer. When she was 16, Arianna moved to the UK to study economics at Girton College.
In the 1970s, Arianna, with the help of Bernard Levin, a British writer started writing books. Bernard and Arianna became quite close and developed a relationship. The two traveled together to music festivals around the world as assigned work by the BBC. Levin mentored her and helped her with her writing career, but the two eventually had to go their separate ways as Arianna wanted to settle down and start a family, but Levin never wanted that. After that, Arianna moved to New York where she co-hosted a show called Saturday Night At The Mill, with Bob Langley.
Arianna has written several books and contributed to several prestigious websites as a columnist throughout her career. In 1973 she wrote a book with the title, The Female Woman. The book was critical on the subject of the women’s liberal movement. Along with this, Huffington has also worked for the media for most of his life. Huffington has done TV shows and radio shows like “Left, Right, & Center.” Additionally, Huffington also appeared on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
Likewise, Huffington is also a Republican and claims to still be committed to certain Republican values. Later in the year 2016, Arianna retired from her positions at AOL and Huffington Post to start a new venture which is a science-based solutions company called Thrive Global.
