The artist was on September 30, 1972 as Ari Mikael Bjørshol in Århus, Denmark. He is the son of father Olav Bjørshol and mother Marianne Rafaela Solberg. His father worked as a technical writer and photographer while his mother, a teacher. His parents divorced and remarried their friends Jan Pehle and Tone Bjerke who were previously in a relationship. He grew up with his two younger siblings, Anja Sabrina and Espen.
