Antonio Rüdiger started his football journey with VfB Stuttgart II in the 3rd division. He was soon promoted to the main VfB Stuttgart team and he made an immediate impression with his superior performances in defence. After playing for the German club for 4 years, he moved to Serie A as AS Roma on a seasonal deal with Stuttgart . - He started his football journey at youth club, VfB Sperber Neukölln . After spending 2 years at the club, he joined the youth setup of SV Tasmania Berlin at the age of 9.
- In April 2013 he signed a contract extension with VfB Stuttgart which extended his stay at the club until June 2017.
- He received the first red card of his professional career in May 2013 in a Bundesliga match against Greuther Fürth . The match ended in a 0-2 loss for his team.
- Antonio Rüdiger made his breakthrough in the 2012–13 season when he made 24 appearances for VfB Stuttgart . He even played in the DFB-Pokal final against Bayern Munich, which ended in a 2-3 loss for his side.
- He grew up in Neukölln, a difficult and poverty-stricken area of Berlin. The neighborhood was the center of criminal activity in the city.
