Antonio Ozores
He specialized in characters who spoke in such a way that nothing was understood. She belonged to one of the most famous and beloved lineages of actors in Spanish cinema. Antonio Ozores spent more than six decades dedicated to acting. The comedian died in Madrid on Wednesday, May 12, at the age of 81, after a long illness.
Born in Burjasot (Valencia) on August 24, 1928, Antonio Ozores Puchol came from a family that has been dedicated to acting for several generations now. His parents, Mariano and Luisa Puchol, were actors, he was the brother of José Luis Ozores and the director Mariano Ozores . His daughter Emma, and his niece Adriana Ozores , have followed the tradition. It is not surprising that at the age of eight he was already on stage, in a play by his parents, and discovered that he was good at making people laugh.
Since the beginning of the 40s, he has become a regular actor in his father’s company, and made his film debut in 1950, as a supporting role in the memorable The Last Horse , by Edgar Neville . Since then he has combined theater and cinema, and shoots at breakneck speed. Many of the films in which he was involved became very popular, such as The Last Horse , Morena Clara , La Saeta Rubia , Manolo, Urban Guard , The Astronaut , Tourism is a Great Invention , etc. “I would go to a shoot and fall asleep. And I would ask when I woke up: What movie is this? They told me the title and I already did it ”, commented the actor.
Together with his brother José Luis, he presented “Piense, acierte y premio”, considered the first Spanish Television contest. He was also an actor in the first Spanish series: ¡Qué feliz somos! In radio he collaborated for many years in “The State of the Nation”, directed by Luis del Olmo . He published several books, such as “El anticiclón de los Ozores”.
In 1958 he married the actress Elisa Montes, Emma’s mother, although the marriage ended in divorce. The actor appeared in almost all of his brother Mariano Ozores’ films, like Manolo, la nuit or Tío, do you really come from Paris? , which used to star Alfredo Landa . At the end of the 70s, the Ozores changed Landa for the couple formed by Fernando Esteso and Andrés Pajares , in titles such as Los bingueros , El liguero mágico or Brujas mágicas , which were all the rage in the transition years.
