ANGIE MARTINEZ TUPAC

Angie did an interview with Tupac Shakur in 1996, although the 2 hour interview was cut to 12 minutes because Angie did not want to contribute to the dangerous East and West Coast beef activities fueled by government media. He wrote about the interview on his memoir. During an interview during his book tour, he had this to say:

“It passed very quickly because I thought about it often throughout my career and I often thought about it. I don’t know if I would necessarily have shared this story, so it’s something I decided to release. I am grateful in many ways because it was a turning point in my career. It forced me to make decisions that put me on the path to the type of personality I wanted to be. It taught me a good lesson. I went with my instinct. I didn’t know how this was going to turn out. I was afraid to air this interview and I didn’t want to be responsible for making it worse. And the truth is, I made that decision and I’m proud of it after all these years later. I think of the tragedy that happened to [Tupac and Biggie] like, ‘What if I turned that off?” I always would have wondered if I had contributed in any way to what happened, even though I might not. In the end, it happened anyway, but I know that I did what I could do not to contribute to it. It gave me strength. It helped me draw my line in terms of who I am as a personality. ‘
