“Benitooooo”, he would shout when he needed his partner to help him make a ‘ñapa’. Ángel de Andrés López became very popular as Manolo, one of the two disastrous masons in “Manos a la obra”. The actor died on May 4, 2016, at the age of 64, as a result of a heart attack.

Born on October 23, 1951,  Ángel de Andrés López from  Madrid already appeared on television as a child, along with his uncle, the storied figure of the Spanish scene Ángel de Andrés . “ I spent my childhood in revue theaters, watching him and laughing at his antics. Surely I became fond of this thanks to him ”

Graduated in Law, he never practiced because he joined the Grupo Tábano to dedicate himself to independent theater. Although he briefly appeared as a thug in Tooth and Nail, his first major role was given to him by  Pedro Almodóvar , who made him the husband of  Carmen Maura  in  What have I done to deserve this? . The director brought him back to play a policeman in  Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown .

A regular face in Spanish cinema, he appeared in titles such as  Huevos de oro ,  El perro del hortelano ,  800 balas , or  Carousel c. 1950 . But his greatest success was the sitcom  Manos a la obra , where he played a disastrous bricklayer, the ‘thinking head’ of the tandem he formed with the character of Carlos Iglesias. The bunglers Benito and Manolo became great celebrities.

The actor was related to his colleague  Milena Montes , with whom he met in  Flying Saucers . His last appearance was in the series  Carlos, Rey Emperador , where he gave life to Pope Clement VII.
