Andrew Garfield
In a very short time, she has managed to get movie fans to fall for her, thanks to her convincing roles. Until very recently he was a total unknown. But his role on The Social Web , and being cast as the world’s most famous web-slinger in the upcoming Spider-Man film have made him practically a star.
Although he was born in the capital of show business, Los Angeles, Andrew Garfield (August 20, 1983) is practically a British actor. His father was also born in California, but his mother comes from Essex, England, a country the family moved to when the boy was only 3 years old. He grew up and went to school in Surrey, subsequently enrolling at the Central School of Speech and Drama.
In addition, Garfield made his first steps on the British scene. He starred in a production of “Romeo and Juliet” and also in the play “Kess” at the Royal Exchange Theater in Manchester. For his work on stage, he received various awards, such as the one for best newcomer at the Evening Stardard Awards.
In the beginnings of his career he worked on numerous occasions as a supporting role in British series, such as Sugar Rush and Doctor Who . He was also the lead in the English film Boy A , where he played an ex-con who, once rehabilitated, has to go back to prison, for a murder he committed when he was a child. He obtained great success, the Bafta for best television actor, and good reviews, which made it possible for Garfield to jump across the pond.
Variety included him in its 2007 “10 Actors to Watch” list, which includes young promises of interpretation. Shortly after she recruited Robert Redford himself toLions for Lambs , where Andrew Garfield played a college student.
Although he apparently had a small role inThe Boleyn sisters , their shots stayed on the editing table. He was also secondary inThe imaginary of Doctor Parnassus and has starred in Never Let Me Go , an adaptation of a novel by Kazuo Ishiguro , where he shares the screen with Carey Mulligan and Keira Knightley .
But the real turning point in Andrew Garfield’s career was his work onThe social network , where he played Eduardo Saverin, the great friend of Mark Zuckerberg, the creator of Facebook.
“Personally, I only had two photos of Eduardo. The person was not hiding but we had a deal not to spread the information and we could not talk to him. The script was complete and the characters were pretty level. For me writing Eduardo was difficult because he was born in Brazil and grew up in Miami. My culture is different and I had to adapt to that, it took me a bit of work”, recalls the actor. His brilliant work has been rewarded with a Golden Globe nomination.
From The Social Network , it has gone on to the Spider-Man network. As soon as filming finished, and although the public had not yet massively supported The Social Network , he auditioned to become the new Spider-Man, in the film planned to relaunch the franchise, directed by Marc Webb . Because of his acting skills, Webb decided to bet on him, despite the fact that he was still practically nobody. He leads a cast that includes Emma Stone , Rhys Ifans , Martin Sheen , Sally Field and Campbell Scott .
