- As a child, he was a fan of the Chicago Bulls and Michael Jordan.
- His father is Nigerian and his mother is African American.
- In high school, the Chicago Sun-Times voted Andre their Player of the Year along with Parade All-American and Nike All-American.
- College coaches took an interest in Iguodala when he won the AAU National Tournament MVP award after hitting the winning shot in the finals.
- He signed a national memorandum of understanding to join Arkansas, which he liked very much for its 1-3 system and large gym where the team trained. He ended up moving to Arizona after Arkansas coach Nolan Richardson was fired in 2002.
