Ana Lily Amirpour is an Iranian-American film director, screenwriter and actress. She is best known for her directorial debut in a 2014 film called Girl Walks Home Alone at Night , which she described as “the first Iranian vampire spaghetti western”. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and was distributed by VICE . It also won the Revelations Prize at the Deauville Film Festival that same year, along with a Citizen Kane Award for “Best Directorial Revelation” at the Sitges Film FestivalAfter being dubbed “the next Quentin Tarantino” for her style and directorial skills, Ana presented her next film called The Bad Batch in 2016. It contained a mixture of romance and violence and was hailed by critics as one of her best works viewed. It starred actors including Jason Momoa, Suki Waterhouse, Jim Carrey and Keanu Reeves. Venice International Film Festival on September 6, 2016 won a Special Jury Prize. In 2018 she directed an episode of Castle Rock TV series as well as a pilot for Thorn Thicket TV series which was released in 2019.
