Amapiano Hitmaker, DJ Sumbody Shot Dead In South Africa

• South African Music Producer and Amapiano Pioneer, DJ Sumbody is dead
• He was attacked while on a journey alongside his bodyguards, one died with him while the other is in a critical condition 

Popular South African music producer and Amapiano pioneer, Oupa John Sekofa, professionally known as DJ Sumbody is reportedly dead. He was shot dead on Sunday, 20th November 2022 in Johannesburg.

DJ Sumbody was said to have been on a journey with his entourage on Woodmead Road when unknown gunmen attacked their vehicle and shot at him and his bodyguards. He died on the spot and so did one of his bodyguards, with the other one left in a critical condition.

The police in Gauteng confirmed the attack and gave a report that stated they are on the look for suspects and have embarked on an investigation to find out the cause of the attack.

Below is a statement given by Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo:

“Police received a complaint about a shooting on Woodmead Drive at approximately 12.30am. Upon arrival at the scene, police found two people inside a VW Golf with gunshot wounds. Both victims, a driver, and a passenger were certified dead on the scene. It was reported that the third victim, who was driving a BMW X5, was taken to the nearest medical care centre after sustaining gunshot wounds.

“Gauteng acting provincial commissioner Major-General Tommy Mthombeni, has deployed maximum resources to trace suspects responsible for this shooting. Police appeal to anyone with information that can help in the investigation or assist in the apprehension of the suspects to call the crime stop number or report to the nearest police station. Information can also be given anonymously via my SAPS App that can be downloaded from any smartphone.”
