Amanda Tapping is an Anglo-Canadian actress, well recognized for her amazing and powerful portrayal of Captain/Major Samantha Carter on the hit MGM sci-fi television series. Stargate SG-1. She is also a successful director and executive producer, known for her work on the series. Sanctuary and directing episodes of Ancient One: New World and Arctic Air.
Early life of Amanda Tapping
Amanda Tapping was born on August 28, 1965 in Rochford, Essex, England and raised in Ontario, Canada. She was only three years old when she moved to Canada. She grew up with three brothers Richard Tapping, Christopher Tapping and Steven Tapping . Sadly Steven Tapping passed away in December 2006.
He attended North Toronto Collegiate Institute. She graduated with distinction in Environmental Science and Drama. She then decided to take drama seriously when she enrolled at the University of Windsor School of Dramatic Arts in Windsor, Ontario.
Amanda Tapping Career and Achievements
After graduation, he continued his studies in Theater Arts while working on various stage productions. She started her acting career by appearing in various television commercials where she played a variety of roles such as The Outer Limits and The X-Files.
She made her professional acting debut in 1995. She also created a comedy group called, Random Acts collaborating with Katherine Jackson and Anne Marie Kerr in Toronto in the early 1990s.

She is well known for her role, Samantha Carter on the Canadian science fiction television series. Stargate SG-1 which aired in 1997. She reprized the same role in the second season of Stargate Atlantis as the new commander of the Atlantis expedition.
She later guest-starred on Stargate Atlantis Season 5 as she was focused on developing a new series for Syfy called Sanctuary. It was a webisode that was released on the internet in 2007. She was the actress and the executive producer of that show
After his first webisode, in 2011 he appeared again with the animated webisode series. The Zenoids with William Shatner and written by Alan Dean Foster. Tapping was the executive producer of that show and she, along with Shatner, also provided the voice for her to characters on the show.
She was then cast as an angel in the famous series Supernatural appearing in season 8 on September 18, 2012. She appeared in seven more episodes of Supernatural.

Tapping made his directorial debut on the seventh season of Stargate SG-1 in an episode called Resurrection which was written by co -star Michael Shanks . He also directed the seventh episode of his new webisode. Sanctuary. Tapping directed three episodes (6, 8 and 10) of the Primigenio: Nuevo Mundo series and also four episodes (5, 6, 9 and 10) of Olimpo .
He has directed episodes of Dark Matters , Van Helsing , The Wizards , and Supernatural, as well as the historical drama Company X. As of 2017, he has directed the series’ season finale. Anne with an ‘E’ .

Amanda Tapping married Alan Kovacs in 1994. Together they have a daughter, Olivia, who was born on March 22, 2005.
