  1. After being inspired by her older brother, a national-level gymnast, Allison began participating in gymnastics. But she eventually realized she wasn’t enjoying it.
  2. She, meanwhile, focused on the pole vault she studied in high school. In 2004, she won the United States title at the age of 15/16, setting a championship record of 12 feet.
  3. In 2004, she also managed to set the new American record for a high school freshman at 3.86 m (12 ft 7 3⁄4 in).
  4. In her sophomore year in 2005, she set another record when she set a new high school record as a sophomore at 4.11 m (13 ft 5 3⁄4 in).
  5. She suffered a broken leg in high school, but that didn’t stop her from posting two wins at the CIF California State Meet.
  6. She was ranked second in the national high school rankings in her senior year. Her best vault was 4.14 m high.
