Every state in the country has taken delivery of the Covid-19 Vaccines except for Kogi State, due to the non-repair of their cold-chain store.

This was disclosed by Faisal Shuaib,  the executive director, National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA)

The Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, had previously disregarded the Covid-19 vaccine claiming there is no case of Covid-19 in the state.

The NPHCDA director said Kogi state was yet to receive their Covid-19 Vaccine “due to the non-repair of their cold-chain store coupled with the state’s concerns around the contradictory information about the vaccines”.

He said: “The vaccination application has been launched in most states’ treatment centers even against distractions and criticism of the FG’s efforts to ensure availability of vaccines in the nation.

“The roll-out of the vaccines across healthcare front-line workers and other health support staff was scheduled to commence by March 15, 2021, in some States, with the intention of wider coverage after the training of the states’ health workers across board.”

Mr. Shuaib stated that Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) “had been co-opted to support the PTF on Vaccine Accountability to ensure the safekeeping of the vaccines”.

The NPHCDA director emphasized the need for securing the vaccine noting that the vaccine could be vandalized if not well protected, he also assured Nigerians of getting the complete dose of the vaccine before the scheme is completed.
