In May 1968, Alkiviades David was born in Lagos, Nigeria. His family was a maritime and business family with Greek Cypriot heritage. His father, Andrew A. David, was raised in Petra, Cyprus, and later attended Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland, where he studied business.
In Ghana, where he headed the Accra Coca-Cola Bottling Plant, Andrew A. David joined the Leventis-David Group in 1957.
In order to further his passion for film, Alkiviades attended the Royal College of Art after completing his high school education in Switzerland.
