Alison Arngrim is a Canadian-American actress, comedian, and author, known for her portrayal of Nellie Oleson in an American western drama television series, Little House on the Prairie alongside Melissa Gilbert , Karen Grassle , and many more. In 2002, Arngrim was honored with the Child Star Lifetime Achievement Award from the Young Artist Foundation for her work as a child actress in Little House.

Arngrim moved to Los Angeles with his family. His father, Thor Arngrim , was a manager at one time managing Liberace’s career while his mother, Norma MacMillan was a Canadian voice actress.
Arngrim also has an older brother, Stefan , a former child actor, he starred in the TV show Land of the Giants.

Alison Arngrim is a married woman, she exchanged vows with musician Robert Paul Schoonover in 1993 in an intimate ceremony. The duo first met at AIDS Project Los Angeles, where she served as a volunteer and Schoonover was director of the Southern California AIDS Hotline.
She was previously married to Donald Spencer , a writer. The duo got married in 1989, and after four years of marriage they divorced citing irreconcilable differences. They had no children.
Arngrim has been romantically involved with René Simard . The duo dated for almost three years before breaking up in 1984. According to the report, he was her first boyfriend.
In 2004 on The Larry King Live Show , he spoke fearlessly about the sexual abuse he experienced in his childhood by his relative, but he has not mentioned the abuser’s name.
However, in 2010 through his autobiography, ‘Confessions of a Prairie Bitch: How I Survived Nellie Oleson and Learned to Love Being Hate’, Arngrim publicly revealed his childhood molester for the first time. She mentioned that she was raped at the age of 6 by her own older brother, Stefan and it continued for three years until she chose the movie. She drops the anchor . Although the abuse from her ended, the effects of it stayed with her for a long time.
The book was highly successful, receiving critical and public acclaim for its ability to blend humor and personal tragedy at the same time. Her book was one of the best-selling books of 2010.
Arngrim was very close with her Little House co-star Steve Tracy who played the role of her husband on the series and their friendship continued after they left the show. Later it was learned that Tracy had AIDS and died in 1986 due to complications in her health. After her friend’s death, she set out to become an AIDS awareness activist.
