Alice Vikander
Despite her young age and the fact that many of her roles have been in Sweden, her native country, Alicia Vikander has been nominated on numerous occasions for very important awards, winning several, including the Oscar. Between 2012 and 2015, she has participated in more than 10 films with directors such as Tom Hooper, Guy Ritchie and Alex Garland. She has even become the new muse of the famous Louis Vuitton brand.
Alicia Amanda Vikander was born on October 3, 1988 in the city of Göteborg, Sweden. Her artistic blood already flowed in her veins because her mother is the stage actress Maria Fahl Vikander. And although she initially wanted to dedicate herself to ballet – she entered the Royal Swedish Ballet Academy – her injuries separated her from that world.
His start in the world of acting was in 2002 with his work for numerous series and movies on Swedish television. Her opportunity came when she shot Pure (2009), an independent Swedish film thanks to which the British director Joe Wright noticed her. In 2011 she opened her borders to the world with the film The Crown Jewels , with the main role of Fragancia Fernandez. But without a doubt, her best-known first-time film is Leon Tolstoy’s adaptation Anna Karenina (2012), where she gives life to Kitty. In this romantic drama, directed by Joe Wright , set in the 19th century and which narrates the different relationships between members of Russian high society, she shares the screen withKeira Knightley and Jude Law . Her performance was exceptional and she even stole the spotlight even from Knightley.
Another of her great roles is that of Caroline Matilde from Great Britain in A Royal Affair (2012), a film nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign Film. Vikander also had an added difficulty, since she had to learn Danish in two months. During the following years, she participated in more commercial films, such as The Fifth Estate (2013), the story of the creation of LifestyleLeaks, and Son of a Gun (2014), with the role of Tasha.
In 2014, he made it big as a robot in the original Alex Garland -directed feature Ex machina . And in The Seventh Son (2014), a film based on a youth novel by writer Joseph Delaney, she was offered the role of Alice because Jennifer Lawrence had previously turned it down. A year later, thanks to Operation UNCLE , she made her first action movie, a very entertaining comedy set in the Cold War and directed by Guy Ritchie .
Her greatest recognition came from The Danish Girl (2015), where she played Gerda Wegener. Inspired by true events, the film, directed by Tom Hooper , tells the story of a couple of painters, in which her husband undergoes an unexpected metamorphosis of identity, and decides to become a woman. Thanks to her performance, Vikander won several awards, including the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She shares credits with Eddie Redmayne , winner of the Oscar for Best Actor in 2015.
In 2016 he worked on the drama The light between the oceans , the story of a couple who find a baby on the seashore. During the filming of her, he met her current partner, the also actor Michael Fassbender , eleven years older than her.
His upcoming projects include Tulip Fever (2016), where he shares the screen with model-turned-actress Cara Delevingne , and will share credits with Matt Damon in his new appearance as Jason Bourne.
