BIOGRAPHY OF ALICE SMITH

Alice Smith is an American singer and songwriter, her style rooted in rock, R&B, blues, jazz and soul. She is married to Citizen Cope, an American singer and songwriter.

Her debut album, For Lovers, Dreamers & Me, was a collection of songs spanning genres from country to rock to funk. Due to her musical prowess, she was nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Urban/Alternative category in 2007.

The artist would venture fully into singing, releasing his debut album in 2006. The album was met with much critical acclaim.

The famous Rolling Stone Magazine applauded her, admitting that “Smith could easily be mixed up with expressive singers like Norah Jones and Alicia Keys, but she has a wider palette than both.”

Over the years, she managed to compose a variety of songs. The song titled Dream was featured in an episode of Entourage (season four) during the closing credits.

Additionally, the single “Dream” was also featured in the final act of episode four, season five, of the Showtime series The L Word (“Let’s Get This Party Started”). However, the fallout from the pressure of the success of her first release meant that future recordings were shelved. Becoming a mother, Smith moved from New York to Los Angeles, California.

In 2011, she collaborated with Aloe Blacc to contribute the track “Baby” to the Red Hot Organization’s latest charity album Rouge Chaud + Rio 2 . The album followed the 1996 Hot Red + Rio . Proceeds from sales will be donated to raise public awareness and awareness in the fight against AIDS/HIV and related health and social issues.

In 2018, Smith’s song “Fool For You” was featured in the Season 4 episode One of My Three Soups of the television series Gotham, which chronicles the events leading up to Batman’s arrival.

Clarence Greenwood is generally known by his stage name, Citizen Cope. His compositions have been recorded by Carlos Santana, Dido, Pharoahe Monch and Richie Havens.

ALICE SMITH FOR LOVERS, DREAMERS AND ME

In 2006, she created her debut album, For Lovers, Dreamers & Me. The album was a collection of songs spanning genres from country to rock to funk. The title was borrowed from The Muppets. The album was received positively, critics gave it a thumbs up.

In 2013 Alice performed the song “Cry” with Doyle Bramhall II at Madison Square Gardens as part of the Eric Clapton Crossroads Guitar Festival.

COLLABORATIONS WITH ALICE SMITH

In 2011, the songwriter collaborated with Aloe Blacc to create the track “Baby” for the charity album Red Hot + Rio 2.

In 2014, Prince released a rendition of his song Another Love on his album with 3rdeyegirl, Plectrumelectrum. She also performed ‘Fool For You’, ‘The One’, ‘She’, ‘Don’t Get Me Wrong’ and ‘Dreams’ at AfroPunk 2014.
