Alice Cooper, born in Detroit, Michigan, USA, is an American singer, songwriter and comedian whose career spans over 50 years. Cooper is considered by music journalists and his peers to be “the Godfather of Shock Rock” with a distinctive raspy voice and a stage show that includes many props including guillotines, fake blood, electric chairs, dolls, reptiles and dueling swords.
Cooper also drew inspiration from horror films and garage rock to create a macabre, theatrical brand of rock designed to shock people. Cooper is also known for his witty and humorous behind-the-scenes personality, with The Rolling Stone Album Guide calling him “the world’s most beloved heavy metal artist.” Away from music, Cooper is a film actor, golfing celebrity, restaurateur and, since 2004, a popular radio DJ with his classic rock show Nights with Alice Cooper.
Hailing from Phoenix, Arizona in 1964, “Alice Cooper” was originally a band consisting of Furnier on vocals and harmonica, Glen Buxton on lead guitar, Michael Bruce on rhythm guitar, Dennis Dunaway on bass and Neal Smith on drums. Alice Cooper’s original band released their debut album in 1969, and burst into the international music mainstream with the 1971 hit song “I’m Eighteen.”
The band reached their commercial peak in 1973 with their sixth studio album, Billion Dollar Babies. The band broke up in 1975 and Furnier adopted the band’s name as his own name, beginning his solo career with the 1975 concept album Welcome to My Nightmare.
Expanding from his Detroit rock roots, Cooper experimented with a number of musical styles including art rock, hard rock, heavy metal, new wave, glam metal and industrial rock. He is credited with helping to shape the sound and look of heavy metal, and has been described as the artist who “first introduced horror imagery into rock and roll, and whose scenography and staging have definitively transformed the genre”.

Alice Cooper married Sheryl Goddard on March 20, 1976 in Acapulco, Mexico. The two met in 1975 when she was 18 and a dance student when Alice was auditioning dancers for the support tour for Welcome to My Nightmare, her first album after breaking up Alice Cooper’s original band.
During an interview with AZ Central, Sheryl revealed that she didn’t know who Alice was the first time they even met
much on rock and roll. But when you’re on the road, a pizza and horror movie night in the Cooper Hotel suite
with the crew proved fateful.
‘We were engaged in such a fun conversation that I didn’t notice everyone slowly leaving the room.’ Their marriage got off to a rocky start as Cooper was in the midst of an alcohol addiction. In November 1977, Sheryl had
he committed to a rehabilitation center in New York. Her sobriety did not last long and in 1983 Sheryl filed for divorce due to her drinking. They reconciled before the divorce was finalized and Cooper has been sober ever since.
In 2011, during an interview with The Guardian, Cooper said the secret to his longtime marriage to Sheryl was that he never cheated
“I am one of the good guys, if you marry the person you are in love with you would never do anything to hurt them. Honestly, I’ve seen spectacularly beautiful women and said, ‘I’m not interested. ”

Calico is the daughter of Alice Cooper, at age 18 she was hired by her father to choreograph and bring his nightmarish characters to life on stage for his Brutal Planet World Tour. She became infamous for performing alongside Alice as ‘Nurse Rosetta’ and ‘Cold Ethyl’.
‘When you’re introduced to, ‘Hey, do you want to travel the world, get paid for it, perform in front of thousands of people and be with your family’, you know, the answer is yes. It’s the best of all possible worlds.
For the first two years, I sort of took care of my p and q. I knew Alice fans would compare it to, “Well, Sheryl used to do it that way.” But after a few years, I really regained my confidence. Suddenly, instead of the nurse being just sexy or provocative, I was like, “What if I made you hate her more than you hated Alice? I bet I could do it. »
Cooper gave me carte blanche to do whatever I wanted, and as the tours went on and time went on, that nurse character became a hit with those fans because you actually wanted that she dies. I felt like I had done my job. They hated this character. Alice has also appeared in films such as Bloomers and Thirty Proof Coil.

In 1964, Vince Furnier (stage name Alice Cooper) alongside his high school classmates, Dennis Dunway and Glen Buxton formed a band known as Alice Cooper. Alice Cooper was the lead vocalist, Glen Buxton was the lead guitarist while Dennis Dunway was the bassist. They were later joined by Michael Bruce (rhythm guitar, keyboards) and Neal Smith (drums).
The group moved to Los Angeles in 1967 and was briefly renamed Nazz. In 1970, the band moved to Pontiac,
Michigan due to slow sales of their first two albums as well as Californians’ indifference to their number.
In the late 1970s, the band released their single ‘I’m Eighteen’ which became a Top 40 hit. Due to the success of
the single, Warner Bros invested in their third album, ‘Love It to Death “. They released four more successful albums and headlined major tours from 1971 to 1974. In 1975, the band broke up after playing their last gig on April 8, 1974 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
In 1975, after the group broke up, Vince Furnier legally changed his name to Alice Cooper and had a solo career.

On October 23, 1999, they reunited with Alice at the second Glen Buxton Memorial Weekend for a show at Coopers Town in Phoenix (Buxton having died in 1997). On December 16, 2010, they reunited for another show, with Steve Hunter on guitar at the Dodge Theater in Phoenix.
On March 14, 2011, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and performed together; a performance
that was televised. They also performed together at London’s Battersea Power Station at the Jägermeister Ice Cold 4D (webcast) event on May 11, 2011. On April 17, 2014, a documentary about the band titled Super Duper Alice Cooper premiered at the Tribeca MovieFestival. A week later, it was to be screened at the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival.
The group reunited again on October 6, 2015 in Dallas at Dunaway’s book signing. The surviving band members were set to release an album, but it never materialized as the only material to surface was two bonus tracks on Cooper’s 27th studio album, Paranormal. On May 14, 2017, the four surviving members reunited for a five-song set at a show in Nashville, Tennessee. They reunited again the same year for a UK tour.
