Aleksandar Mitrović has long been considered one of the finest prospects to attack. At 18, he was included by UEFA reporters in the list of the top ten talents under 19 in Europe. He cemented his reputation with strong performances at the 2013 UEFA European Under-19 Championship. Big things were expected of him when he joined Newcastle United. But the combination of injuries and poor discipline cut his playing time significantly. It didn’t help either that Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez preferred to be mobile and push hard. So he finally agreed to move to Fulham where he has finally shown his immense talent.

He made his professional football debut in 2011–12 season with Teleoptik , who plays in the second tier of Serbian football. He was loaned to the club from Partizan Belgrade.
In August 2015 he made his first appearance for Newcastle United in a game against Southampton FC. He replaced Papiss Cisse in a 2-2 draw in the last 15 minutes. He received a yellow card just 22 seconds after entering the field.
In February 2018 he made his debut for Fulham in a 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest. He almost missed it on his debut when his header was cleared off the line.
In July 2013, Mitrovic made his first international appearance for Serbia national team in a 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Belgium. Serbia coach Marko Šćepović had to replace him in the 69th minute after taking Axel Witsel’s foot.

- During his childhood he was a difficult child and often got into trouble. His father told him that he would either become a criminal or a kickboxer.
- In June 2012 he signed his first professional contract with his youth club Partizan Belgrade. He had agreed a 4-year contract with the club.
- In November 2012, he scored a goal in his first-ever Eternal Derby game, where Partizan faced Red Star Belgrade. However, he failed to avoid a 2-3 loss in the match.
- At the end of the 2012-2013 season he was voted into the Jelen SuperLiga team of the season. He also ranked third in the Mozzart Sport list of the top 25 players in the state league.
- In August 2013 he was signed by Anderlecht after the Belgian club paid Partizan a €5m transfer fee. It was the highest transfer fee paid by the club for a player.
- In December 2013 he had to give up the goalkeeper in his team’s Champions League group game against Olympiakos as a regular goalkeeper Silvio Proto was sent off. But he couldn’t stop Alejandro Domínguez’s penalty.
- He finished his debut season at Anderlecht with 16 league goals. His club also managed to win their 33rd league title.
- In November 2014 he helped Anderlecht comeback against Arsenal in a UEFA Champions League match. His team lost the game 3-0, but in the 90th minute he managed to score the goal to make it 3-3.
- In July 2015 he was signed by Newcastle United on a 5-year contract. They paid Anderlecht a reported transfer fee of £13m.
- In the final game of the 2015/16 season, against Tottenham Hotspur, he scored one goal and recorded one assist. He was also sent off for a brilliant challenge against Kyle Walker. He became the sixth player in Premier League history to be sent off, score a goal and assist a goal in a single game.
- In August 2017 he was handed a three-game ban after being spotted on cameras punching West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini in the head.
- On the deadline of the 2018 winter transfer window, his planned temporary move to Bordeaux and then to ex-club Anderlecht collapsed.
- He finally decided to join Fulham after speaking to their manager Slaviša Jokanović, who also has legendary status in Serbia.
- He was named EFL Championship Player of the Month in March and April 2018.
- Despite only making 17 appearances, he ended the 2017-2018 season as Fulham’s second-highest goalscorer with 12 goals. The top scorer was Ryan Sessegnon, who had scored 15 goals in 46 games.
- He joined Fulham in July 2018 on a permanent deal with the London club for an initial £22m fee, potentially increasing to £27m, with Newcastle United. Mitrovic signed a 5-year deal with the new club and received the 9th shirt.
