Alan developed an interest in music at a young age while listening to gospel music. Jackson began writing music in 1983, but first worked in the Nashville Network’s mailroom. He got his big break from music after his wife Denise arranged a meeting with Glen Campbell’s manager, Marty Gamblin. He first signed to Arista Nashville and Arista Records where he released his first single Blue Blooded Woman in 1989
Jackson headlined his debut studio album Here in the Real World with the single Here in the Real World. Here in the Real World peaked at number three in the top 40 on Hot Country Songs. He earned his first number one country song with the release of I’d Love You All Over Again. His second studio album, Don’t Rock the Jukebox, was released in 1991. He also wrote several songs on Randy Travis’ album High Lonesome.
However, Alan left Ten Ten Management in 1994 to join Gary Overton. Jackson released his fourth studio album Who I Am with Gary Overton on June 28, 1994.
