- Early in his football journey, he played for Aminchi Football Academy . He played for the club 6 days a week after school. In fact, he got up at 6 a.m. to fit school and academy into his schedule.
- He first caught the attention of the footballing world in his native country in 2007 after being quoted in the Undiscovered Talent column of a well-known publication.
- Although he moved to VVV-Venlo in the summer of 2010, he was only able to play for them in October as he was under 18 and unable to qualify for an ITC under current FIFA rules.
- Despite being heavily courted by Europe’s leading clubs, he decided to join CSKA Moscow in January 2012 for an undisclosed fee.
- After 5 successful seasons at CSKA Moscow , he decided to move to Leicester City in July 2016 in a deal worth £16.6million. This was the highest amount the English club had spent on a single player.
- In June 2018, he was voted Man of the Match in Nigeria’s group stage against Iceland when he scored both goals in his side’s 2–0 win.
