  1. He was born with a severe hearing problem. Before his first birthday, he underwent corrective surgery at Yale University. He was also born with a serious eye infection, which was also treated with surgery.
  2. In October 2015, Adam publicly came out as gay in an article in Skating Magazine. He considers it an important moment in his life when he began to understand who he really was as a person.
  3. In 2009, Adam became the first competitor to win back-to-back junior world titles, having also won the competition the previous year.
  4. After failing to become a part of the team as a US skater for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, he considered giving up figure skating. But at some point, skating served as therapy to help cope with his failures.
  5. He tore his shoulder while performing at the Bridgestone Skate America competition in 2017. But he continued to complete his performance.
  6. He was forced to withdraw from the US Championship in January 2017 because of a broken left foot.
