ADAM JONES (MUSICIAN) EARLY YEARS AND PERSONAL LIFE

Jones was born in Park Ridge, Illinois, raised in Libertyville, Illinois. He was accepted into the Suzuki program and continued to play the violin through his freshman year in high school. It was said [by whom?] that as a child he was very different from other children.

He always skipped church in favor of reading comics on Sundays. As a child, he was interested in animation, turning his ideas into three-dimensional sculptures, which is why Tool’s music videos often had 3D-clay effects. He then started playing acoustic bass in an orchestra.

In addition to playing classical music, Jones played bass guitar in the band Electric Sheep, with Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello playing guitar, until Jones moved to California (Morello soon followed) . According to the two, the group was quite unpopular at the time. Jones never received traditional guitar lessons, but instead learned by ear.

On January 27, 2013, Jones became engaged to his girlfriend, painter Korin Faught. The marriage proposal took place before the Royal Rumble event. Their wedding took place on July 6, 2013. They have two children together.

After graduating, he went to work at Rick Lazzarini’s character shop. For the next two years, he worked for the TV show Monsters.

He designed and made Grim Reaper make-up and a Zombie head on a spike (later used in Ghostbusters II), among other things. After that, he went to Stan Winston’s special effects studio, where he worked on Predator 2, sculpting a unique-looking skull for the interior of the Predator’s spaceship.

Jones has worked on several other major Hollywood films doing makeup and set design, including Jurassic Park, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Dances with Wolves and Ghostbusters II.

ADAM JONES (MUSICIAN) PLAYING STYLE

Adam Jones is known for primarily not using any particular guitar playing technique, but instead combining numerous techniques such as “the alternating use of power chords, rough noise, ringing arpeggios, offbeat rhythm patterns and ‘discreet minimalism’.

On Lateralus and 10,000 Days, he made extensive use of triplets. Other techniques used to expand his band’s sonic repertoire require forms of instrumental experimentation and applications of non-instrumental experimentation, such as his use of an Epilady as a plectrum on the Ænima and Lateralus albums for example; continuing in that direction on Tool’s song, “Jambi,” Jones uses a dialog box. In the song “Third Eye” he uses a guitar blade for the opening.

It has two synthesizers listed below in its effects section. Live, Jones can be seen with a large pedalboard full of effects, including a DOD FX-40B Equalizer (EQ) Pedal, Boss BF-2 Flanger, Boss DD-3 Digital Delay, MXR Micro Amp, Dunlop BB535 and two Boss Master/pedal power switches among a few others. In a 1994 interview, he mentioned the band Helmet as an influence.
Visual art
Jones created the line art for the reissue of Peach’s Giving Birth to a Stone, in which Jones member Justin Chancellor played bass.

He helped Green Jellÿ with their costumes.

In 2007, he received the Grammy Award for “Best Recording” as Artistic Director for his work on 10,000 Days.

Jones came up with the makeup layout the actors wore on the videos for “Schism” and “Parabol/Parabola.”

In his spare time, Jones takes photos that are used for visuals at Tool’s live gigs.

Jones draws his own comics, a habit he started as a young child by manipulating his ideas in 2D on paper. A 2010 X-Files/30 Days of Night crossover was co-written by Jones and 30 Days creator Steve Niles with art by Tom Mandrake.

ADAM JONES (MUSICIAN) WIFE, MARRIED

Congratulations to Tool guitarist Adam Jones! The ax pioneer married artist Korin Faught in a ceremony last month in San Francisco. Besides that, there is more good news as the couple are expecting their first child.

You may remember Adam Jones’ proposal to Faught. The Tool guitarist pulled some strings with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and asked his girlfriend to marry him at the 2013 Royal Rumble Pay-Per-View in front of a packed arena.

Before the Royal Rumble began, a message appeared on the giant screen that read, “Korin, Adam Jones wants to ask you something… ‘Will you marry me?’” Needless to say, Korin said yes.

News of Jones’ July wedding was only publicly revealed last night (August 28) after a photo of the couple was posted on Adam Jones’ official Facebook page. The message says, “Mrs. Jones<3 July 6th, 2013.” Check out a photo of the couple from the wedding at Jones’ Instagram account.

As noted, marriage isn’t the only monumental news in Jones’ life. The new Mrs Jones has revealed via her Instagram page that she is pregnant. Two weeks ago, she posted a photo of her baby bump with the note “#bumpwatch”.

As for Tool’s next album, drummer Danny Carey recently told us to expect a 2014 release. “We could have the finished record by the end of the year – that’s a possibility , but the logistics of making it and getting the record label in line and stuff, I doubt we’ll be able to get them out before Christmas,” Carey shares. “We will see how it goes. Most likely, it will be early 2014.”

We send our best wishes to the happy couple. And stay tuned for updates on Tool’s next recording as news arrives.
