Yomi Fabiyi calls for protest for Mohbad

Popular Nigerian actor and activist Yomi Fabiyi has called for a protest to mark the first anniversary of singer Mohbad’s death.

In an Instagram post, Fabiyi urged Nigerians to attend the upcoming court session of the coroner’s inquest.

He also suggested organizing protests around the anniversary to push for justice if there is no significant progress by that time.

He wrote: “Let’s storm the court peacefully and attend the next coroner’s inquest and protest to register our demands on this case. If nothing tangible is seen or heard, we focus on the day of the one-year anniversary.”

News recalls that Mohbad, a former artist with the Marlian record label, passed away under mysterious circumstances on September 12, 2023.

In response to the widespread controversy on social media following his death, the Lagos State Police Command formed a 13-man special investigation team to examine the case.

On September 21, 2023, Mohbad’s body was exhumed for an autopsy at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH). However, during a subsequent appearance before the coroner’s court, the pathologist reported that the cause of death could not be determined due to the body’s decomposition.

In reaction to these findings, Mohbad’s family expressed dissatisfaction and called for an independent autopsy.
