Contrary to a false rumor that is being extensively promoted in various online media, Access Bank Plc has not developed any cryptocurrency-related products or opened any Bitcoin banks. The Access Bank management distances itself from this report and all others of a similar nature.
According to the original article, which is available on a fake Daily Post website, the photos of Access Bank’s managing director, Mr. Roosevelt Ogbonna, that were used to support the hoax were illegally stolen from Access Bank’s social media accounts. The pictures were then altered to fit the false story that was being presented in the fake article.

The quotes from the fabricated interview that were also attributed to Mr. Ogbonna are also wholly untrue.
For the record, Mr. Ogbonna has never given an interview or made any statements about a Bitcoin bank or any other cryptocurrency firm. In the interim, we are working with law enforcement to look into the origin of this defamatory information in the hopes that those responsible will be held accountable.
In compliance with Nigerian law, Access Bank continues to uphold its unwavering commitment to exemplary standards. For the benefit of our customers and all stakeholders, the board, management, and employees are still committed to openness, excellent corporate governance, and the promotion of international best practices.
