Early Life and Education
Abubakar Sani Bello was born on December 17, 1967. He is the son and eldest child of Col. Sani Bello, the former military governor of Kano state in Nigeria (RTD). He attended ST. Loius Primary School in Kano from 1974 to 1979, Nigerian Military School from 1980 to 1985. And the University of Maiduguri from 1986 to 1991, where he earned a B.Sc in Economics. He has worked all across the country, beginning with his NYSC days, when he was assigned to the Marketing department of NICOTES Services in Port Harcourt as a Supervisor. Political Career
Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello won the APC gubernatorial primary in Niger State for the 2015 election. In the primary election, he garnered 3,829 votes, defeating Senator Musa Ibrahim. He later went on to win the general election with 593,709 votes. On April 13, 2015, INEC pronounced him the winner. He was re-elected Governor of Niger State on March 9, 2019.
At a State Executive Committee meeting on August 24, 2020, he backed a Reconciliation Committee and other committees, along with members of the National Assembly from the State led by Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi and other Party Chieftains. The goal of this Committee is to restructure and reposition the party in preparation for the 2023 elections.
Before becoming the governor of Niger State, he was appointed as the commissioner for business and investment by Aliyu Abubakar, the former governor of Niger State. He held this role from 2009 to 2010. Abubakar has held various top management roles at multinational corporations, including serving as the Chairman of Millennium Travel and Tours, Director of Investment Center Limited, and Director of Dana Air. He also served as an important member of the Board of Trustees at the Federal University of Technology, FUT Minna, Committee on the former president resource legacy centre in Niger state and Sub-committee on facilities and infrastructure for a proposed multi-purpose sports complex in Niger State.
