AbdulRazaq Pledges Continued Support for Workers, Digital Skills on May Day

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to empowering workers and preparing them for the fast-evolving global economy, as the state joined the rest of the world to commemorate the 2025 International Workers’ Day.

In a goodwill message shared via the official Facebook page of the Kwara State Government, the governor celebrated the resilience and contributions of workers across both public and private sectors, describing them as the backbone of the state’s economic progress.

“Whether as civil servants, farmers, factory workers, teachers, healthcare personnel, engineers, artisans or professionals across various sectors, your dedication and skills are the pillars of our growth and development,” AbdulRazaq stated.

He highlighted ongoing government initiatives aimed at equipping workers with future-ready skills, including the establishment of an Innovation Hub, ICT centers, and a Visual Arts Centre. These efforts, he said, are designed to position Kwara’s workforce for opportunities shaped by automation, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies.

 

“As the world of work evolves, we must adapt,” he said. “It is crucial that we embrace change, promote excellence, and prepare ourselves not just for the jobs of today but for the opportunities of tomorrow.”

 

The governor also emphasized his administration’s achievements in maintaining financial stability, paying salaries promptly, supporting small businesses, and expanding job opportunities through infrastructure development and investment-friendly policies.

 

He commended labour leaders in the state for their continued support and collaboration in building a progressive and worker-friendly environment.

 

The Workers’ Day celebration in Ilorin was marked with rallies, solidarity marches, and messages of unity, with labour unions calling for improved working conditions and implementation of a new minimum wage.
