At least fifteen people,  including both adults and children, suffered burns of varying severity after a gas explosion rocked a bungalow complex in Ijora Badia, Lagos.

The incident, which occurred at No. 12 Amosu Street in the Apapa Iganmu LCDA, was traced to a 25kg gas cylinder inside a mini shop within the building, which houses 15 self-contained apartments and seven shops. According to emergency responders, the fire was triggered by a gas leak caused by improper handling, which was then ignited by a nearby flame.

While the explosion caused panic among residents, officials from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that none of the injuries are life-threatening. Several victims received first aid on-site, while others were rushed to nearby hospitals for further treatment.

Emergency responders, including personnel from the Sari Iganmu Fire Station, LASEMA, and other agencies, were quickly deployed to contain the situation and prevent further damage.

Authorities have urged residents and business owners to exercise greater caution when handling gas and other flammable materials, especially in residential areas.
