Ijoba Lande Cries Out: I Got Paid Just N90K After a Month on Funke Akindele’s Set

Popular Nigerian comedian and skit maker, Ijoba Lande, has sparked a wave of reactions online after revealing that he received only N90,000 for a full month’s work on set with Nollywood heavyweight, Funke Akindele.
In a candid video shared online, the entertainer expressed deep disappointment over the experience, saying he joined Akindele’s production team at Amen Estate with high hopes but ended up feeling underappreciated. He admitted that he didn’t negotiate his fee upfront because he was excited about the opportunity and wanted to avoid jeopardizing future chances with the filmmaker.
Upon arriving at the set, Lande said he was handed a contract by a woman named Wendy, which indicated he would earn N90,000 for the month. Though taken aback by the low pay, he still signed the agreement, hoping the matter could later be adjusted or reconsidered.
However, after working the full month, he was paid exactly what was stated, N90,000, with no increase or bonuses.
Sharing the lesson with other upcoming entertainers, Ijoba Lande warned against idolising celebrities or undervaluing one’s worth for the sake of fame.

“Aunty Funke Akindele didn’t give me N150,000. I swear by Almighty God,” he said. “I was so eager to work with her that I didn’t even charge anything. But if I had been more educated, I wouldn’t have signed that paper. I thought it was nothing until payday came.”
