In a viral video circulating on social media, popular Nigerian singer 9ice, whose real name is Abolore Akande, had an amusing encounter with Governor Seyi Makinde’s security detail. While attempting to greet the governor, 9ice dropped to the ground in the traditional Yoruba gesture of respect. However, one of the governor’s security aides abruptly shoved him back.

Unfazed, the singer humorously responded, “Don’t push me, let me greet my father!” His comment caught the attention of Governor Makinde, who smiled and warmly acknowledged 9ice with friendly banter.

The governor joked, “Try and be coming home,” a playful nod to 9ice’s seeming absence from Oyo State’s activities.

The video quickly went viral, with many praising 9ice for handling the awkward situation with humor and grace instead of escalating the tension. Social media users expressed their admiration, with one commenting, “He’s a wise man, I love the way he turned it to humour.” Another user said, “Very respectful of him, love that statement!”
