Angelina Jolie

In 2013, Angelina Jolie adopted the determination of performing a precautionary double mastectomy to reduce problems arising from a damaged “BRCA1” gene. This gene, which is usually acquired from a mother, acutely increases the likelihood of developing breast cancer by 87% and ovarian cancer by 50%. Angelina’s mother died of ovarian cancer and she is often asked by her children if she faces it too. Like any other mother, she comforted her children by letting them know she would be fine. She had published an article in The New York Times explaining why and how women facing the same problems are seeking medical help and are clear about making choices for themselves.

Jolie also spoke about how she felt blessed to have a loving and caring partner like Brad Pitt. He later spoke to USA Today about his decision. In the article, he expressed how moved he was by this and that Jolie could have been secretive if she wanted to. He stresses that their main reason for going public was to allow people around the world who are suffering from a similar problem to seek medical help and not be afraid to do so. They wanted the world to know that sharing their story matters and can empower it.

Lady Gaga

Gaga’s very famous “Born This Way Ball” tour had to be canceled halfway through due to a very serious hip injury that occurred during the show. In her interview, she revealed the level of pain she had to deal with. After the MRI results were released, her explanation of the injury was nothing short of gruesome. Huge crater-like holes were found on one side, while the cartilage on the outside hung loose. She also suffered from light tears and a large fracture on the inside of the joint. The surgeon told her that if she had had another show, she would have had to have complete hip surgery and physical therapy for a year.

Gaga made her come back in a few months and thanked all her fans for keeping her in their prayers.

Catherine Zeta Jones

First, let’s explain what “Bipolar II Disorder” can cause. Their mood swings are always at a high level and fluctuate drastically, causing massive changes in emotional and mental health. The “up” side of the mood never peaks and one continues to spiral out of control, while the “down” side can become very depressing and intense. The occurrence of such an episode is referred to as hypomania . A person suffering from bipolar II disorder has had at least one hypomanic episode in their lifetime.

The actress first revealed that she had been diagnosed with Bipolar II Disorder in 2011. Catherine was willingly admitted to a health maintenance facility in April 2011, whose treatment ended in May of the same year. The reason Zeta is voicing her issue is to let people around the world know not to continue suffering or feel embarrassed and always proactively seek help from medical experts. She went on to express that if exposing her condition can even help a person get out of the closet, her purpose will be served.

Jennifer Arnold

The lead role of “The Little Couple” had Jennifer Arnold, confirmed in 2013 a rare type of cancer that she had been analyzed with. She mentioned that she was diagnosed with stage 3 choriocarcinoma, a rare type of its kind. She spoke about her medication, which included surgery and chemotherapy. The investigation had begun when she faced an unlikely pregnancy in September.

Jennifer mentioned about the undying love and support she received from her husband. While there’s never a good time to be scared like that, the fact that they were trying to start a family bothered them more. Having faced and overcome several short-sighted societal norms, Jennifer is mentally stronger than the average person. Though the incident broke her emotionally, she taught herself to view it as a regular bump in life.

Frankie Muniz

The “Malcolm In The Middle” lead, Frankie Muniz, experienced his first mini-stroke in 2012. He talked about not knowing why it had hit him, but he was content and grateful that he was still breathing.

When someone talks about a “mini-stroke,” what does it mean? They often mean a transient ischemic attack (TIA). A TIA is caused by the interruption of blood flow to important parts of the body such as the brain, nervous system and retina. Science shows that while a TIA does not necessarily cause permanent damage, it can happen again, as each TIA increases the risk of another TIA.

After another year, he suffered from his second mini-stroke, which he later reported. He updated the same on his twitter account informing all his fans about his second mini-stroke and hopes it will be the last.

Hugh Jackman

The X-Men actor and heartthrob Hugh Jackman underwent surgery for a basal cell carcinoma on his nose. The gentleman, who grew up in sunny Australia, says he didn’t use sunscreen. When he asked TODAY why, he said it must be because he stopped using sunscreen when he was young, until he was 16.

Basal cell carcinoma is one of the most trivial skin cancers in the United States caused by long duration UV exposure. It rarely injures or kills badly and is considered harmless. However, it is recommended that you have such a problem checked if you notice it. Jackman’s sole purpose in raising awareness of this issue is the same as that of any other celebrity. It aims to encourage people to always take care of their bodies, get regular check-ups and seek medical help without fear or embarrassment of societal norms.

Sheryl Crow

America’s famous and beloved sweetheart, Sheryl Crow was discovered with breast cancer in 2006. As she discovered early on, her cure was limited to a minor invasive injury and seven weeks of radiation therapy. As part of her treatment, she visited a nutritionist who advised her to load up on fish and vegetables. To remind her of her hardships and to keep her grounded, Crow left the breast cancer tattoos where the radiation lined up on her chest.

Today, Sheryl is focused on spreading the message of early detection. She insists, “Put on your own oxygen masks before you put on anyone else’s.” In 2010, she founded the Sheryl Crow Center as part of the Rosa Lotus Chest Center , founded by her own surgeon. She then reported in late 2012 that she had been discovered with a benign brain tumor.

lil wayne

Lil Wayne, the hip-hop patron, was diagnosed with epilepsy in 2013 after multiple and consecutive acute attacks. He explained that he never remembers these attacks very much. He mentioned that all he remembers was a severe headache, after which he fell asleep and woke up in the hospital.

He also talks about how he has had many attacks but barely informed the media about them. He was also hospitalized in some of these incidents while his team managed to keep him inaccessible to the media. Epilepsy is a central nervous system disorder that disrupts nerve cell activity in the brain cells and limits the proper functioning of muscles and brain activity.

Sarah Hyland

Sarah Hyland, the young celebrity of the modern family, has been suffering from renal dysplasia for the longest time. This is a condition where a baby’s kidney does not develop properly in the womb. A kidney has ureters, which are tubes that branch off from the kidney and collect urine while the fetus is in the developing stage. However, in renal dysplasia, the tubes do not branch properly, leaving no room for urine to flow inside the tube. The collected urine then invades the kidneys and forms cysts inside.

Her troubles are now over when her father volunteered to donate his kidney to her. Her partner, Matt Prokop, helps treat her, examines her, and comforts her with other things she constantly needs. She spoke about how grateful she is to her father for giving her a second chance at life, something not everyone gets. She also talks about how few 21-year-olds would do that much for someone unlike her boyfriend.

She then became involved with the George Lopez Foundation, which helps unfortunate children and others who are facing difficulties and challenges in education and health. They also actively try to collect information about kidney disease and organ donation. Sarah talks about how this project is very special to her as it gives many children a second chance in life that she needed at a certain point and was so lucky to have.
