The 7th of July of every year is always a scary and unanticipated day particularly in the southern part of Nigeria due to the fact that the  Black Axe confraternity was founded on the same day in 1977. The Black Axe is a notorious fraternity known for violence and Gruesome killings on Nigerian campuses.

So on the July 7 of every year is a day set aside by the confraternity to celebrate the establishment of the group and the founding father of the confraternity.  Every year they initiate new members and engage in other violent activities.

So here are other important events that took place on this day in history.

#1. The Hawaiian Islands annexed by the United States: On the 7th of July 1898, The U.S. Congress annexed Hawaii through a joint resolution signed by President William McKinley on this day in, paving the way for the islands to become a territory (1900) and later a U.S. state (1959).
#2. The U.S Women Football Team won their 4th  FIFA World Cup: On this day in 2019, the U.S. women’s football team led by Megan Rapinoe defeated the Netherlands to win its fourth World Cup.
#3. The London bombings of 2005: on the 7th of July 2005, The London transit system was struck by coordinated suicide bomb attacks that killed 39 people and injured more than 700.
#4. The Marco Polo Bridge Incident: On the 7th of July 1937 Chinese and Japanese troops clashed near the Marco Polo Bridge outside Beijing prior to World War II.
#5. The first sliced Bread was sold: on this day in 1928 The first sliced bread went on sale In Chillicothe, Missouri; the loaves, baked by a local company, were cut using a machine designed by Otto Rohwedder.
#6 The death of King Edward I:  on this day in 1307 King Edward I of England died on his way to subdue the new Scottish king, Robert the Bruce.
#7. The Independence of Solomon Island: on the 7th of July 1978  Solomon Islands, a country in the southwestern Pacific Ocean. became an independent nation.
