5 Important Decisions Made at the Southern Governors Meeting

The Southern Governor Forum held a closed-door meeting on the 5th of July at the Lagos State Government Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja-Lagos.
The Executive Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, the Chairman of the forum, address the press after the meeting yesterday to reveal the things that were discussed.
Governor Akeredolu stated that one of the decisions of the Forum yesterday was that the next President of the country should be from the southern region.
Prior to the meeting in Lagos, a meeting was held in Asaba, Delta State a few months ago, where the governors agreed to ban open grazing, called for restructuring of Nigeria, and the need to establish state police.
The Executive Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who hosted the meeting receive the Governor at the venue of the meeting before proceeding to the closed-door meeting.
Some of the people, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State; Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State; Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State; and Edo State deputy governor Philip Shaibu.
Others were Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun; Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi; Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi.
5 Important decisions were made at the meeting.
Southern Presidential Candidate: The Southern Governor Forum has agreed that the next President come 2023 should be from the southern part of the country, according to the communique the governors agreed that the Presidency should be on rotation between the North and the south.
RNN had earlier reported that the opinion of Governor Aminu who opines that we should move the presidency to the southern part of the country.
Establishment of State Police: on the matter of security the governors unanimously gave their support for the establishment of the State against the Federal Police System, The country is running.
Cattle grazing – The Southern Governor Forum agreed that the ban on open grazing by herders will take full effect in all member states from the 1st of September 2021.
The Forum had earlier announced the ban on open grazing early his year, they stated that cattle herders will only raze their cattle in government allocated areas.
It should be noted that Open grazing has been responsible for many of the deadly clashes between farmers and Cattle owners all over Nigeria.
Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) Law – The Governors jointly rejected the proposed  3% support money for the host communities in the Oil Region, They instead demanded 5% of the entire revenue generated.
They also rejected the proposed 30% share of profit for the exploration of oil and gas in the basins.
Elections – The Southern Governors Forum stated the compulsory electronic transmission of results during polls, should be included in the electoral acts
