2023: PDP will make Nigerians smile again - Ex- Governor Liyel Imoke assures

Sen. Liyel Imoke, a former governor of Cross River, asserted that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is the only one capable of restoring Nigerians’ sense of humor.

At the launch of the state’s Presidential Campaign Council for the Atiku-Okowa ticket, he gave a speech on Sunday in Calabar. Imoke urged the council to launch aggressive campaigns to support all of the party’s candidates in every corner of the state.

He claimed that the numerous issues Nigerians were facing were overwhelming them and that the ruling party lacked the answers.

“We all understand as Nigerians that we are facing challenges, and they are of such magnitude that the country is hemorrhaging under the current leadership.”

“To get out of the woods, we have to come up with the best and the best right now are Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.

“It is important and critical that we get our people to understand the importance of doing the right thing in the coming elections because if we make another mistake it will be the end for Nigeria.

“The only way out was to vote for someone who could help Nigeria to recover from poverty, poor education, insecurity, hunger, and disunity, which is Abubakar.

Speaking on the crisis at the party, Imoke said that it was an internal affair and would be “resolved internally as soon as possible”.

Meanwhile, President  Muhammadu Buhari met with the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, and the chairman of the party, Abdullahi Adamu last night in Abuja.

The meeting, which took place shortly after Buhari returned from a two-week medical trip to the United Kingdom (UK),   was ahead of the formal flag-off of the party’s presidential campaign, scheduled to take place in Jos, the Plateau capital,  tomorrow.

Special Assistant to the President on Digital Communications,  Bashir Ahmad,  announced the meeting in a tweet last night. Buhari returned to the country yesterday night after spending 13 days in the UK. He had traveled on October 31 for a “routine” medical check-up.
