Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, has left Nigeria to campaign in the United States of America.
Despite reports in 2018 that he would be unable to enter the United States, Atiku traveled to the country with former Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki and others. The visit to the United States was significant because it dispelled any suspicions that Atiku could not travel to the United States.
Atiku begins a week-long electioneering campaign in the United States, where he will meet with Nigerians and members of the business sector. According to The Punch, Atiku would meet with Nigerians in the Diaspora as well as PDP members in North America as part of his programs and engagements while in the US.
He would also meet with prominent Nigerian business executives living in the US, as well as young Nigerian professionals in the diaspora, among other business community meetings.
Atiku launched his election campaign in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, three weeks ago. It was followed by the Kaduna campaign, and on Saturday, another campaign was held in Benin, the capital of Edo State.
He is anticipated to return to the country on Monday, and Ekiti State will host a campaign rally on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, with Ondo State hosting a rally on Wednesday, November 2.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom called on Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar to apologize for his outburst against him and the people of the state.
The governor also warned Atiku not to believe that Fulani alone could propel him to the presidency, Punch reported
Ortom mentioned this to teenagers from the Jemgbagh axis who were protesting in solidarity with him. During an interactive forum organized by the Arewa Consultative Forum in Kaduna recently, the former vice president earned the governor’s ire when he (Atiku) accused Ortom of profiling Fulani and claimed that the governor told him that his people used to rustle cows.
Ortom described as false the claim that he profiled Fulani herdsmen and made the claim that his people stole cows from his farm.
He said, “I condemn the statement against me by Atiku. When it got to me, I chatted with him through a WhatsApp message; he apologized but declined to make a public apology.
“But I am against the Fulani terrorists coming from Niger, Chad, Senegal, and Mali. He must do a retraction. If he does not, on the day of the election, we will vote according to the election.
“We cannot vote for a president who will continue the carnage against our people. He wants to use me as a scapegoat. Atiku is unfair to the people. Do you think Fulani will make you president? You lie. You have committed sacrilege against the Benue people,” Ortom said.
