However, he returned to WWE, seemingly making it known that he was ready for a SummerSlam title shot.
Recall that rumour have been ongoing concerning Cena’s return to WWE for quite some time now, with recent rumours suggesting he was set to appear on the July 23 broadcast of Friday Night SmackDown.

Joint production with the Rolling Loud Hip-Hop Festival, the John Cena character would represent a perfect bridge between pro wrestling and Rolling Loud, not only because of his hip-hop roots but also due to his mainstream cache as a legitimate A-list star.
Aside from Cena, top women’s star Becky Lynch has also been linked to a possible return in WWE’s first pay-per-view in front of live fans with PWInsider (h/t Wrestling Inc) reporting The Man was set to be in attendance at the pay-per-view this weekend.
With several big names reportedly on deck as part of a heavy rollout of possible surprise returns, WWE has plenty of time to slowly reintroduce some of its biggest names to an audience thirsty to see them back in front of a live crowd.
