Steve Harris was born on December 3, 1965 in Chicago, Illinois, United States. He is the son of Mattie , a housewife, and John Harris , a bus driver. He was raised together with his older brother, Wood Harris . He is American and belongs to the African-American ethnicity/ethnicity.
Harris attended St. Joseph High School in Westchester, IL, a private school known for developing star athletes. He later joined Northern Illinois University and studied theater.
