A 13-year-old pupil gave birth to a baby boy during a Mathematics examination in the ongoing Primary Leaving Examinations in Mpigi District, Uganda.

It was gathered that the teenager, a pupil of St Balikuddembe Primary School, Jalamba Ward in Buwama Town Council, Mpigi District on Wednesday morning, March 31st, developed labour pains in the examination hall.

According to the Head Teacher of the school, Mr Godfrey Ssema said the young girl developed labour pains during the exam, she alerted the invigilator 20min after, who called other colleagues and rushed the girl to the nearby medical centre.

The Nurse at the clinic, Ms Goreth Mirembe, said the girl was taken back to the school to finish up her exam a few minutes after she delivered a baby boy.

The school’s headteacher revealed that the invigilator gave the girl extra 45 minutes to write the examination.

In a conversion with daily motor, the parent of the young girl attributed their daughter pregnancy to last’s year COVID-19 lockdown

According to one of her parents, “She was lured into conjugal acts during this Covid-19 lockdown by a certain boy because they were not going to school”.
