The television presenter Marisa Medina died at the age of 69 on April 11, 2012, as a result of colon and liver cancer that she suffered. She was one of the great celebrities on the small screen in the 60s and 70s, and later she made numerous films during the Uncovering era.
Born in the capital of Spain, on December 2, 1942, María Luis Guiu Medina began on television putting her voice on various cultural programs. She made her debut in front of the cameras with “Antena infantil”, one of the first children’s programs on the Spanish small screen.
Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, he became a popular face with programs such as “Fin de semana”, “Everything is possible on Sunday” or “625 lines”. He drew attention for his naturalness, as he appeared on the screen without reading a role, like all the other presenters from the early days of cathodic emissions, who at least looked at the script from the side of their eyes from time to time. She always seemed to look at the audience, who in those days were surprised by her apparent ability to pick up long ramblings. Televisión Española took advantage of her potential by making her the master of ceremonies for music programs and festival broadcasts.

He tried his luck as a singer, recording several albums, and although he was not very successful, he came to share the stage with Julio Iglesias. In 1970 she married Alfonso Santiesteban, a prolific composer, with whom she had three daughters. Both divorced in 1983.
She was also the author of the poetry book “Who waits” and “Canalla de mis noches”, her autobiography. She also wrote the play “The Night of the Unfaithful Husbands”. In recent years, she appeared on various television programs, acknowledging her addiction to alcohol, drugs, and gambling, problems that took their toll. She last appeared in cinema in a cameo in Torrente 3: El protector .
