Afrobeats superstar Davido has joined the growing chorus of Nigerians demanding the release of online activist VeryDarkMan (VDM), who was reportedly picked up by operatives of the EFCC following a visit to GTBank with his mother.

The arrest, which has sent shockwaves across social media, remains shrouded in mystery, with the anti-graft agency yet to confirm if VDM is in their custody.

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, Davido expressed deep admiration for the outpouring of support VDM has received online — a show of solidarity he says is powerful enough to inspire even more advocacy for ordinary Nigerians.

“Outside all the noise, it’s good to see that the good one does actually impacts lives and people actually appreciate! The support I’m seeing for VDM everywhere is encouraging… makes one want to do more for the masses. FREE MY GUY,” Davido wrote.

His post immediately stirred massive reactions online, with fans calling on the singer to use his influence to push for VDM’s release — while some others seized the moment to confront Davido over unrelated issues.
