The Covid-19 Pandemic came like a plague and distraught the world in 2020, there was first a public lockdown for a few months after the lockdown we had to incorporate the use of facemasks in our daily lives, sanitize our hands frequently, and avoid close human interaction, It was one of the worst periods in the 21st century.
So here are 10 things to Know about the Covid-19 Virus.
#1. The Covid-19 is a contagious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).
#2. The official names COVID-19 and SARS-CoV-2 were issued by the WHO on 11 February 2020. The CO for corona, VI for Virus, D for disease, and 19 for 2019 (the year in which the outbreak was first identified).
#3. The first Covid-19 case was identified in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. The disease has since spread worldwide, leading to a global pandemic.
#4. The Virus is mainly transmitted when people breathe in air contaminated by droplets and small airborne particles containing the virus.
#5. Symptoms of COVID-19 are variable, ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness common symptoms include loss of smell and taste, nasal congestion, breathing difficulties, e.tc.
#6. Some animals such as cats, ferrets, Lion, and Tigers were reported to have contracted the Covid-19 Virus after coming in contact with infected humans.

The use of face masks or coverings was obligated  in public settings to minimize the risk of transmissions

#9. As of the 27th of April, 2021, 1 billion COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered. The continued roll-out of vaccines in all countries is vital to bringing the pandemic under control and preventing future outbreaks.
#10. In September 2021, almost two years after the first COVID-19 case was identified, there had been more than 200 million recorded cases and over 4.6 million lives lost to the disease.
