10 Actors Who Hate The Role That Made Them Famous
Every actor has that one special role for which they would always be remembered. That one special role made him a cult figure and helped him break into the superstar league. For some people, such a break is a dream come true. After all, they can get good roles based on their performance in that particular movie. They also pocket countless fans, which in turn helps them land a string of high-profile endorsement deals.
However, this is not always the case. Many actors hate the role that made them famous. They feel that regardless of the number of movies and the number of memorable performances, only one role ever comes up for them. Some believe that such mapping leads to casts, meaning they are not considered for different kinds of roles. This means that the actor will not be able to present his full range of acting skills and may miss some serious roles. This could lead to frustrations and some wrong decisions to deviate from the image.
The most recent and perfect example of this is Miley Cyrus, who did just about anything to dump the cute and sweet Disney star. Here are ten actors who absolutely hate the role that made them famous.
-
Ally Sheedy
Although Ally Sheedy has not publicly expressed dissatisfaction with her association with The Breakfast Club, which marked a milestone in her career, she has often criticized the film’s concept and storyline. She expressed particular dissatisfaction with the character’s overhaul in the film. She felt it was necessary to turn a normal teenager into a glamorous girl just to create a romantic angle. She has claimed that it was necessary to include that in the film. It should also be noted that her relationship with the teenager hampered her career prospects as she struggled to find good films throughout her childhood. Her character’s most famous line in the film, “When you grow up, your heart dies,” seems kind of prophetic. The frustration of finding good roles caused her to make some very bad decisions. One of them was dating Richie Sambora, Bon Jovi’s guitarist. This relationship led to substance abuse. She has had to go to rehab more than once to cope with her drug problems.

Mark Wahlberg
Now w. Night Shyamalan’s supernatural thriller The Happening wasn’t much of a break for Mark Wahlberg. This award goes to Martin Scorsese’s critically acclaimed thriller The Departed. With “The Happening”, however, Wahlberg wanted to break his typography. Before this film, he was either a police officer or a crook, and in the film he played the role of a science teacher. However, things didn’t go according to his plan. Although the film did well commercially, it was met with harsh criticism from critics, and Wahlberg’s acting performance also received unhelpful reviews. It was a big mistake for Wahlberg which he himself admitted in November 2010 during a press event for his film “Fighter”. However, this particular role didn’t have such a negative impact on his career as he is one of the most bankable stars in show business.

You would think that making $300,000 an episode and being part of one of the most popular sitcoms would be a great privilege. But Jones didn’t think so. He initially expressed his awkwardness about doing the “adult thing” while he wasn’t an adult. However, his next few public statements about the show were particularly caustic. He called the show dirt and claimed he was a “paid hypocrite” as his religious beliefs conflicted with his role on the show, which drew heavily on the adult themes. He had been baptized and wanted to leave the show, in which he starred for ten years. He was particularly upset with the season 9 script, which portrayed him as a heavy marijuana user and being sexually active. He even urged fans to stop watching the sitcom as it was negatively affecting their minds. He also claimed the media was deceiving, calling them “the enemy”.

Although she stated that she didn’t want to fully critique the film as it was a huge boost to her career, she said the film wasn’t really about acting. She claimed that when the director called Bay “Action” she knew she was “running or yelling or both”.
To a certain extent, however, their concern and dislike for the film is understandable. Ahead of the release of the second installment of the franchise, the film’s producers conducted a media blitz to ensure the film would be a smash hit.
