Who is Yartzi?

William Manzano Serrano , better known as El Cacique or Yartzi, is a rapper, freestyler and singer who, thanks to his great talent in improvisation and rhymes, has managed to be champion on more than one occasion in the Red Bull Batalla de Gallos. Rapper Yartzi was born on July 26, 1994 in Ponce, Puerto Rico and is currently considered one of the most important Puerto Ricans on the Latin rap scene.

Beginnings in the life of Yartzi

The now famous rapper Yartzi “El Cacique” from a very young age knew that he wanted to dedicate himself to the world of music after he found out about rooster battles and they attracted a lot of attention to such a degree that a passion for that style and musical genre awoke in him. to which he knew he wanted to dedicate himself, so he commented in a recent interview where he talked about what he felt the first time he saw a cockfight;“I thought that having that mental ability to improvise on the spot, to create ideas and to rhyme has to be one of the “baddest” things that human beings do in general. I think that improvising is one of the most powerful abilities of the human being because it combines many other abilities at the same time: being on the stage, thinking, posture, everything. I thought it was awesome and I wanted to try to do the same.”

Yartzi became known on the international battle circuit, however his great musical legacy began several years ago when he began to publish his first songs and improvisations on his YouTube channel in 2012. At that time he was also known as “The Main Man ” , a nickname that he would later change to “El Cacique del Free” and finally he kept the stage name of Yartzi although they also continue to recognize him as Yartzi “El Cacique ”.

October 2019 would be one of the most important moments in Yartzi ‘s career and for which he had been fighting for a long time because after participating in the national Red Bull Batalla de Gallos United States, the freestyler  Yartzi  defeated Jordi in the final and he was crowned champion, thus getting us his pass to the grand international final. In Yartzi ‘s triumph, he was praised by many people who assured that he had the well-deserved award, since he demonstrated that he had the necessary talent to be able to dispatch all his opponents and win the champion’s medal. In his time at Red Bull Batalla de Gallos United States 2019 Yartzihe beat Nico, OG Frases and finally Jordi to get his first win in this type of battle.

Excited by his triumph, Yartzi gave an interview where he thanked all his fans for the support and the opportunity they were giving them, which he valued very much; “It is a unique opportunity and I know the responsibility I have, but I am calm, Puerto Ricans and Americans are sending me all their good energies.” He also confessed that even though he is not from the United States, he had to participate in that competition since at that time there was no competition in his native Puerto Rico that would allow him to qualify for Red Bull. “I want my role to open the doors to Puerto Rico, but in my mentality it is also reaching the ‘top’ three and, for that, the weapon I must use is the Caribbean ‘flow’, I am going to squeeze the impact of what is different ”.

A month later Yartzi went to Spain where he represented the United States in the Red Bull Batalla de los Gallos Internacional 2019 in which 16 exponents participated, the best from several Spanish-speaking countries and having great figures of rap and dance as opponents. freestyle like  Aczino , WOS , Teorema, Trueno , among others. Although Yartzi was willing to win again as he did in his native country, he could not advance beyond his second match because although in his first battle he was able to defeat ” Franco ” representing Uruguay, in his second battle he pitted against  bnetwho, although he managed to be in the competition after taking the place left by Shield Master  when he was unable to attend due to problems with his visa, surprised everyone by taking the international championship.

This did not discourage Yartzi at all and he promised that he would try again next year and he did so, after beating the freestyler ” El dilema” in the Red Bull Battle of the National Roosters United States 2020, he managed to become a two-time champion and automatically have his pass to the international grand final.

In November 2020 , the freestyler Yartzi managed to fulfill his promise and was crowned champion of the Red Bull Batalla de los Gallos in the United States for the second time after beating other great opponents and finally El Dilema, whom he managed to beat in the grand final from a television studio and without an audience present due to the pandemic, the event nevertheless marked a milestone by being broadcast on Public TV simultaneously with the usual Red Bull channels. Yartzi returned to Red Bull after being crowned champion for the first time in 2019, the year in which he would also conquer other great triumphs in different countries.

After being proclaimed champion, Yartzi declared that he was very happy to be able to show that there was also great talent in the United States and that little by little the exponents of that country as well as he were showing what they were capable of and not only in the countries Latinos: “We are seeing that every year the level of the United States is growing abysmal, we are going to become a power, so wait for us. ” Double AA world champion in Argentina.

In the 2020 Red Bull International Final, the best rap exponents who came out winners from each country were presented, among them were  Acertijo (Chile),  Rapder  and  Aczino (Mexico),  Bnet and  Skone (Spain), Elevn , Valles T ( Colombia), Exodo Lirical  and Shield Master (Dominican Republic), Mac (Ecuador), Minos (Bolivia), Naicen  (Uruguay),  SNK (Costa Rica), Stick  (Peru),  Tata MC (Argentina) and  Yartzi(USA). Those in charge of presenting the event were Queen Mary and Serko Fu, two references within the scene, DJ Sonicko and the judges were Jony Beltrán, Arkano, Mozart La Para, Blazzt and Muphasa.
