Yahir Othón Parra better known only as Yahir, an actor, singer and composer who became known after participating in La Academia in 2002 and embarking on a successful career as a singer and even as an actor. Yahir was born on March 21, 1979 in Hermosillo, Sonora and in his successful career he has stood out for becoming a coach for La Voz México on TV Azteca.

Beginnings in the life of Yahir

Yahir Othón Parra, better known in the world of musical entertainment only as Yahir , was born on March 21, 1979 in the city of Hermosillo, capital of the state of Sonora, Mexico. We know that since he was a child he made his family notice his taste and vocation for music; being so that at the age of 7 he learned with his grandfather, named Ramón Othón, the piece that would be his first song, which was known by the name of “El Ranchito” . And this is how a very young Yahir would take his first steps playing and singing with a mariachi in a cantina in a small town in Sonora.

In a more formal way, it can be considered that the beginnings of his artistic career are when Yahir  signed up to participate in the Mexican television program known as La Academia , back in 2002, belonging to the first generation of this contest. obtaining fourth place, being criticized by  Arturo López Gavito  and other judges. 

After being at La Academia, Yahir launched his first album on the market, which we know of as being named after the La Academia program. Being so that with only 17 years he had his first work experience when he was hired to play in a bar in Hermosillo, Sonora. It is our knowledge that Yahir was there for a period of 6 months; and then he went to sing in a hotel in Tijuana, to later move to Mexico City, towards the middle of 2002.

Although Yahir did not win in the first generation of the academy, his vindication would come a year later when he participated in the reality show Desafío de Estrellas in which former students of La Academia and TV Azteca personalities competed to find the most popular music star. talented country. In the first season of “Desafío de estrellas” it was Yahir who would take the win and would be the big winner even over Myriam (winner of The Academy) who was commented on, she was very upset for not having won and even being in third place being surpassed by Nadia.

In 2003, specifically on February 25, Yahir released his first album of his own to the public , which had the title of his own name, and whose production was in charge of Óscar López, who we know is one of One of the most famous and recognized producers in Mexico, distinguished for working with great personalities from the world of musical entertainment such as: José José, Mijares, the Caifanes group, Thalía, Miguel Mateos, the Maldita Vecindad group, to mention just a few.

We must point out that in this album the artists Juan Luis Jiménez and Armando Manzanero participated as composers, where we know in a particular way their participation in the songs known with the titles: “I am” and “Return to me ” . The other songs that were included in this album were known with the titles of: “Carnival”, “Your skin”, “Ellas”, “Nights like this”, “If you look at me like that”, and “Alucinado” , being that in this last theme had the participation of the famous singer Tiziano Ferro. We cannot ignore the fact that this record obtained the first place in popularity in the entire Mexican Republic, keeping this place for several months. The consequence that this brought for Yahir was that they gave him an edition ofgold record and another platinum record , producing more than 250 thousand copies that had high sales throughout the country.

It was also during this year that Yahir  won the Lunas del Auditorio award in the category of “masculine revelation” . He was also awarded the Oye Award in the same category of “male revelation” . And in the same way, at the Oye Awards, he was nominated in the categories of “male soloist in Spanish” and “song of the year.”

And it would also be during this same year, 2003, when  Yahir would prove his acting talents by being the protagonist of the telenovela that became known as Enamórate , where he had Martha Higareda, José Antonio and María Inés Guerra among his co-stars.

The following year, in 2004, Yahir released his second studio album known under the title Another Love Story . It was also in this year that she released the promotional song entitled “La Locura” , which would become the main theme of the soap opera known as Soñarás , a production in which she had a leading role. We must point out that the album Another Love Story broke the sales record, and meant a great leap and boost to fame in his artistic career.

In 2005,  Yahir released another album to which he gave the title of Don’t turn away from me; The same of which we are aware that he had among his songs the selection of the most famous songs by the artist Roberto Carlos, and that it was under the production of Gutto Graca Mello, who served as head director of the renowned singer Roberto Carlos. We must point out that for the making of this album, Yahir traveled to the city of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, to work with Blue Studios.

The following year, Yahir returned to Mexico to present the album known as Con el alma entre las manos , which we must mention was also produced by Guto Graca Melo, and was recorded in the cities of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. , and Los Angeles, California. The success of this album was such that they recognized it with the category of “gold record” and also with that of “platinum record”, with sales that exceeded the amount of 100 thousand copies sold only in Mexico.

The success of Yahir in music was unstoppable, being one of the few former academics who had stood out in the music industry together with Carlos Rivera and released the album Recuerdos , which was a compilation of his most representative hits throughout his trajectory. And among the songs contained in this album we must highlight the one known under the title “Márcame la piel”, which became the main theme of the soap opera called Indomitable Beauties, of which YahirHe returned to participate as part of the cast having a leading role. This album would later be distinguished with the category of “gold record”, and the date of its release, on August 7, 2007, coincided with the beginning of an artistic tour that would take the singer Yahir throughout Mexico, the United States, America Latin and Spain.

In 2009 Yahir  presented the album Elemental to the public , which was produced by Áureo Baqueiro, and was made up of a total of 11 songs in which the following artists participated as composers: Amaury Gutiérrez, Edgar Cortázar, Diane Warren, Noel Schajris, Reyli, and the same producer Baqueiro. In addition to the fact that this album represented a watershed in Yahir’s artistic career due to the fact that it included rhythms that the singer had never used before. Again, it was awarded the category of “gold record” .

Among the songs contained in this album we can mention: ” If they ask you for time”, “I will live”, “I know I lost”, “We never learned”, “Give up on you”, “Goodbye forever”, “She accepts me as I am ”, “En ti”, “Caminito de besos”, “Cuando se quiere” and “Si te veo llegar” (this last song became known in English as “Listen with your heart”).

Yahir would be releasing more albums and music like Yahir VI, (a tribute to the artist Camilo Sesto with songs like “Never”, “Forgive me”, “The love of my life”, “The fault has been mine”, “Love do not ignore me ” and “Vivir sin ti” )), Preferred zone, +Allá, Among two others, although it was no longer enjoying the same success as in previous years.  

A piece of news that surprised more than one was when it was said that Juan Osorio convinced Yahir to go to Televisa by signing a three-year exclusive contract, in addition to the fact that the producer promised him a leading role for a telenovela, but in the end the singer only had a small role in the telenovela ” My husband has more family”  starring  Gabriel Soto which had tremendous success thanks to the story of the actors Joaquin Bondoni and Emilio Osorio Marcos , called “Aristemo”; a gay relationship, also sharing credits with René Casados ​​and Gabriela Platas . In the telenovela my husband has a family Yahir played Xavi Galán.

After several successes in his professional career, in March 2022 he started a new project by being part of “Tu cara me suena” a reality show that would be premiering on Univisión and for the first time simultaneously on Televisa. In the program “Your face sounds to me” Yahir  was a participant  in the program along with  Michael Stuart , Kika Edgar , Christian Daniel , among others. The program achieved very good audience levels because without a doubt the reality show had great personalities from show business.

Yahir, had a relationship with Jaqueline Fierro, who is the mother of his first son Tristan Yahir Othon Fierro . He later dated Marimar Vega, a well-known soap opera actress such as Amor captive and Silvana sin lana. Around the year 2003, he would be romantically linked to his co-star for the telenovela Enamórate, Martha Higareda, but this courtship would last for barely a year.
