Who is Winin?

Juan Luis Morera Luna ,  better known as Wisin, is a famous Puerto Rican singer and composer, an exponent of the urban genre who became famous thanks to the duo or “Wisin y Yandel” who, although they separated in 2013, met again in 2018 to continue together and combine the duo with his solo careers. Wisin was born on December 19, 1978 in Cayey, Puerto Rico and is currently considered one of the pioneers in the  Reggaeton genre .

Beginnings in the life of Wisin

Juan Luis Morera Luna, better known in the world of musical entertainment under the stage name Wisin , came into the world on December 19, 1978 in Cayey, Puerto Rico.

It is our knowledge that he made his debut in 1997 as part of the musical group Boricua Selecta, where he was known by the name of Tical along with other artists whose names are: Baby Ranking (singer Alexis), Small (who later he was a member of Los Yetsons), and Selfo. The song with which they debuted was known as “I go out and kill again.”

The following year, in 1998, Wisin  released the song “Solamente”, which was followed by the song called “Boricua Jungle”; and in 1999 the group Boricua Selecta appeared for the last time on the album Apocalipsis Boricua with the song “Acción”.

After the dissolution of the group, Wisin met 3 To The Mic, with whom he recorded some songs in collaborative work for the records Reggae Shock 3, Puerto Rico Most Wanted and No Fear 3, where he stood out with the songs that were titled: “They want test us”, “You ask for war and I will go”, in addition to “We are going to detonate”. We cannot ignore the fact that the following year, in 1999, he released what was his first duo album known under the title of Los reyes del nuevo millennio.

After some time, around the year 2003, it is our knowledge that he made his debut as an actor in the film called Mi vida… my life, where Wisin  was in charge of interpreting the character of Juan Luis Morera.

Shortly after, in 2004, Wisin and Yandel worked on separate projects and it was in that same year that Wisin published what was his first solo album, which he named El soviviente, in which he included the participation of renowned artists such as Tony Dize, Alexis, and Daddy Yankee .

After some time, in 2007 Wisin  published the album Los extraterrestres, the first album in which he had international collaborations by artists Eve and Fat Joe. This successful album was followed by the release of La mente maestra, and shortly after La revolución came out, an album in which the rapper 50 Cent participated.

Later, in 2010, Wisin  made the announcement that he would participate in a film and would launch two albums: La revolución live and Los vaqueros: el regreso. We cannot forget that at this point in her life she already had nearly 14 years of artistic career in a duo, which had earned her several awards, among which we can highlight a Grammy Award, two Latin Grammy Awards and 11 Latin Billboard Awards. .

A short time later, already in 2013, on October 4, Wisin  released what was his first single as a soloist, which was entitled “Que viva la vida”. While on November 26 he released the remix of the same song in collaboration with the Brazilian artist Michel Teló and of course we cannot forget that it was that same year when his second single from the album was released under the name from “Adrenalina”, a song that was a team effort with the famous singer Ricky Martin, and the American actress and singer Jennifer López.

Also in 2013 Wisin was part of the jury of the reality show known under the title La Voz… México. Subsequently, in 2014, we have news that his name appeared in the Premios Juventud with the categories of “the perfect combination” (resulting in the winner together with Ricky Martin and Jennifer López for the interpretation of the song “Adrenalina”), in addition to “best urban artist” (in which he was nominated).

The following year, in 2015, Wisin  was in Chile for the second night of the Antofagasta Festival, and shortly after we were able to see him in Argentina at a concert where he presented the song “Nota de amor” along with Daddy Yankee and Carlos Vives. . It is our knowledge that this song managed to be in the first place on the list called Billboard Latin Airplay in the United States, in addition to appearing on the lists known as Top Latin Songs and Crossover by Monitor Latino in Colombia. So that towards the end of February of that year the song was positioned in third place.

Without a doubt, 2015 was a very important year in Wisin ‘s artistic career , since thanks to this song his name appeared with four nominations at the Billboard Latin Music Awards; At the same time, she premiered the song “I would like” with  CNCO .

A little later he was together with the Mexican actress Anahí at the Premios Juventud, an event in which they presented the song entitled “Rumba”. So for the date of August 13, Wisin  did a tour with Carlos Vives that was known as the “Más Corazón Profundo Tour”, where we know that they performed at the El Campin Stadium in the capital city of Bogotá, with the interpretation of the theme “Notas de amor”.

While for the month of May of the following year 2016 Wisin  collaborated with Enrique Iglesias on the song “Duele el corazón”. Soon after, in September, he released the single “Vacaciones”, a song that placed him in the first place on the Billboard Latin Airplay chart, then he would have great success with the song “Bonita” with  J Balvin .

A year later  , Wisin  presented the single known as “Escápate conmigo”, which was a collaboration with the singer Ozuna on the date of March 31. While for the month of November she published the single “Move Your Body” with Bad Bunny and Timbaland. So we have that by the end of that year she released what was her fourth studio album, which she gave the title Victory with the Sony Music Latin record label. What we can say about this production is that it had 16 songs in which we can enjoy the voices of recognized artists in the genre such as: Daddy Yankee, Yandel, Nicky Jam and Almighty. We cannot leave aside the fact that for the following year, 2018, he was confirmed as a presenter in the reality show known under the name of La Voz Estados Unidos, where he had as jury partners the famous singers: Alejandra Guzmán, Luis Fonsi  and Carlos Vives.

Subsequently, during the past year 2020, it is our knowledge that Wisin launched a video that he titled The documentary base, where he included several musical projects in which we can verify the participation of distinguished artists such as  Ozuna , Yandel, Los Legendarios. (who are also the producers); at the same time it was the debut of young artists like Abdiel “AB” and Chris Andrew . Regarding this project, it is our knowledge that in several interviews Wisin declared that he felt proud because he felt that it was his time to “contribute to music as a producer of new talents.”

In Wisin ‘s artistic career we can point out that he was executive producer of the album that we know by the name of Los Legendarios, which went on sale on the date of February 5 of this year 2021, with the collaboration of artists called: Jon Z, Myke Towers ,  Ozuna , Chencho Corleone, and Zion, to name just a few; while at the same time he participated in the song 3G Remix together with ft. Jon Z, Don Chezina, Chencho Corleone & Myke Towers ; and after several years in June 2021 the long-awaited version of the song “Fiel Remix” where Wisin collaborated with  Anuel AA would be released .

The couple Wisin and Yomaira Ortiz Feliciano who got married in 2008 and after several years of happy marriage in 2020 in a discreet ceremony held in a restaurant located in the town of Cayey, Puerto Rico, renewed their wedding vows, showing that their love continued more strong than ever; the best man at the wedding was his partner and musical colleague Yandel.

Their two eldest children, Ylena and Dylan, were present to accompany their parents on that special day, but the one who was absent was their baby, Victoria, who was born with the trisomy 13 chromosomal malformation. However, that sad episode made them stronger. in every way.

In 2016 the singer WISIN surprised his entire audience when he wrote on his instagram account; “My princess just passed away.” With that message, Puerto Rican reggaeton artist Wisin announced the death of his daughter Victoria, who was only a month old but suffered from trisomy 13 syndrome or Patau syndrome, a genetic disease.
