Who is Stick?

Jordy Stick Renteria Reyes , better known as Stick, is a famous rapper and singer who, thanks to his freestyle talent, has won numerous awards such as the  Red Bull Battle of the Roosters. Rapper Stick was born on July 12, 1996 in San Juan de Lurigancho, Lima and is currently considered one of the most important rappers in all of Peru.

Beginnings in Stick’s life

Since the beginning of his professional career as a freestyler, Stick surprised all the great veterans of the medium when, in his first participation in the Red Bull Batalla de los Gallos Peru 2013, he not only proved to be one of the best for his great talent for improvisation and rhymes but he also managed to take the night by being crowned the absolute champion after defeating Gasper, in the grand final being only 17 years old. His victory in the Peruvian national championship gave him a direct pass to the international final but he couldn’t get very far as he was defeated in the first round of fights against Jony Beltrán.

In 2016 Stick decided to return to the  Red Bull Batalla de los Gallos with the intention of showing that he was still strong within the Peruvian freestyle and hip hop scene, however, almost at the beginning of the great event, he was eliminated by Jota, another of the greats. exponents who took their first steps in the industry. This did not discourage him and he gained strength for a year later to appear in the MC Supremacy where he initially beat Rojo in the 16th, Jony Beltrán, later Delenyer in the 4th, in the semifinal he faced the famous  Thunder  who he easily dispatched and in the grand finale had his battle against Shecka whom he managed to beat making Stick the only champion of Supremacyalong with other freestyle greats like Chuty and  Aczino .

A year later he returned to the  Red Bull Batalla de los Gallos but was again defeated by Fox in the round of 16, but he did win in BDm Gold Peru where he competed against his compatriots Papicha, Enzo, Lateral and Nekroos, defeating them to all; On the other hand, as expected, he appeared in Supremacy MC with the intention of defending his title from the previous year, but he was eliminated in the round of 16 by Sony.

Stick in the following years continued to demonstrate that he was one of the great and most important rappers in all of Peru, standing out in national and international competitions and carrying the name of his country high in several battles, this is how he once again managed to win several awards, including BDM. , the Kingdom International in Peru , among others. In just the first month of 2019  Stick  had already managed to win two championships:  Stereo Gods and Alternate Support. 

Without a doubt, October 2020 would be another great year for the  freestyler Stick as he managed to fulfill his promise and was crowned champion of the  Red Bull Batalla de los Gallos  in Peru for the second time after defeating other great opponents such as Xplain, Xilo, Jota and finally to Skill, whom he managed to beat in the grand final from a television studio and without an audience present due to the pandemic, the event nevertheless marked a milestone by being broadcast on Public TV simultaneously with the usual Red Bull channels. Stick returned to Red Bull after being crowned champion for the first time in 2013, the year in which he would also achieve other great triumphs in different countries.

Seven years had to pass for Stick to be crowned champion again in the Red Bull Battle of the Roosters, which is considered the most important freestyle and rap event in the world. After his triumph, he gave an interview where he assured that he was very happy but calm because he knew that the real monster to defeat would be in the international final:“I take it very calmly. Before the battle he said that if he became champion, it would be a consequence of something, it was not only winning, but giving everything. If the consequence was to win, it was because I had given everything, I had worked hard, I was focused and I had done well. I take it easy, try not to overwhelm me even though there are many messages. Cool head and knowing that there is little left for the International. The reward comes although sometimes it takes time. Thanks to everyone who supports me but especially those who believed in me through the bad times, in those moments where even I doubted.”

Curiously , Stick confessed that a year before he was thinking of ending his story within the Red Bull Batalla de los Gallos because he no longer had the intention of continuing to participate but thanks to the support that all the event organizers always showed him, he reconsidered the idea of ​​not continuing to compete without imagining that he would win again and be one of the few to achieve a two-time championship. At the same time as celebrating his triumph at Red Bull, Stick was also happy about the release of his single “Por los mios” in collaboration with Maniak and also created the project “Freestyle Workshops”in which he would be giving his best tips and experiences to help beginners freestyle or increase the level of experts, this with the help of supremacy Mc.

The triumph he achieved in his country led him to be part of the long-awaited International Red Bull 2020 battle that would take place in the Dominican Republic and which would be attended by all the great winners of regional broadcasts in order to meet the most talented, ingenious and with the greatest skill of improvisation that would take the title of the year in the most important rap and freestyle event in the world; being the first time that it would be broadcast without an audience due to the coronavirus pandemic that was plaguing the world at the time.
