Who is SNK?

Sergio Guillén , better known as  SNK, is a singer, rapper and composer who, thanks to his great talent, has stood out as a winner in freestyle battles such as the Red Bull Batalla de los Gallos. Rapper SNK was born in Cartago, Costa Rica, on September 29, 1998 and is currently considered one of the most successful Costa Rican rappers worldwide.

Beginnings in the life of SNK

Since he was a child, the now world-class singer and rapper SNK had a great taste for music, especially for improvisation and street battles, because in them he saw an overflow of talent and although for several years he was preparing for him to also be participate in these competitions, it was not until 2016 when he would finally take the big step and sign up for the famous Red Bull Battle of Roosters and in BMD Gold in which he could not stand out but it would be his first step for the great achievements that he would be about to achieve in years to come.

A year later SNK participated in Plaza Mayor in Costa Rica, on the second date of this tournament in which his great talent took him to the final but he finally lost against Nelson, this did not discourage him and on the fourth date he would again have lucky to reach the final but again he would be intercepted by Bless who took the win, but on the final date of this event he came out as champion beating Loko.

Without a doubt, his great triumph of 2017 would take place in BDM Gold Costa Rica, beating great rap exponents in Costa Rica such as Ares, Fabri, Chama and Lapzo in the final with which  SNK would become the champion of his entire country; a year later he returned to defend his great triumph but this time he was unable to emerge victorious after losing to Shun.

But one of the most emblematic moments for the singer SNK would take place at the Red Bull Batalla de los Gallos in the 2019 Costa Rica national championship when he ended up winning after defeating León in the 8th round, Franco CR in the 4th round, Jeff in the Semifinals and Cehzar in the Final. This triumph gave Red Bull Batalla de los Gallos the pass to the 2019 international, achieving a historic 4th place for Costa Rica after defeating Jaze in the 8th round, Zasko Master in the 4th round, but several other victories they lost against Bnet  in the semifinals and by Aczino who took third place from him. 

With a lot of humility and determination, SNK brought out his best freestyle and improvisation to represent his country in the most important rap competition in the world, his rhymes and verses were huge, showing that he had everything to win, placing himself in the top four. places of the edition of the Battle of the Roosters that took place in Spain.

After passing through the Red Bull Batalla de los Gallos the 2019 international, SNK was participating in other great competitions such as the Poseidon Battles international in Costa Rica, God Level 3v3 representing Team Caribe together with Valles T  and in the la Ghetto Dreams International.

It was in January 2020 when the rapper SNK decided to open his YouTube channel to officially launch his first great songs, the first one he released was his song Let me Fly which was produced by Abija, later he was releasing other great musical cuts such as ” Jungle, Serious guy, War, Be careful, Letras de oro, From the square to the stage”, among many others which were very well received by all his audience who had already followed him for years before for his freestyle battles. .

In September 2020 , the freestyler SNK managed to fulfill his promise and was crowned champion of the Red Bull Batalla de los Gallos in Costa Rica for the second time after beating Cehzar, the first national champion, in the final. SNK returned to Red Bull after to be crowned champion for the first time in 2018, the year in which he would also conquer other great triumphs in different countries.

SNK ‘s first battle was against MC León, the first woman to be called to the national final of the battle. She was stubborn in her rhymes and definitely had the public with her, but in the end the experience of SNK weighed heavily, who beat her without resorting to any macho cliché and in the grand finale SNK managed to win the great night after beating great stars of her country.

After having won the grand prize and his pass to the international grand final, the singer and rapper SNK released new music by premiering the single ” Voluntad ” in collaboration with Moises Marsh, a song that quickly became one of the public’s favorites and achieved great success, consolidating itself as one of the most listened to songs in its opening week.

The triumph he achieved in his country led him to be part of the long-awaited International Red Bull 2020 battle that would take place in the Dominican Republic and which would be attended by all the great winners of regional broadcasts in order to meet the most talented, ingenious and with the greatest skill of improvisation that would take the title of the year in the most important rap and freestyle event in the world; being the first time that it would be broadcast without an audience due to the coronavirus pandemic that was plaguing the world at the time.

In the 2020 Red Bull International Final, the best rap exponents who came out winners from each country were presented, among them were  Acertijo (Chile),  Rapder  and  Aczino (Mexico),  Bnet and  Skone (Spain), Elevn , Valles T ( Colombia), Exodo Lirical  and Shield Master (Dominican Republic), Mac (Ecuador), Minos (Bolivia), Naicen  (Uruguay),  SNK (Costa Rica), Stick  (Peru),  Tata MC (Argentina) and  Yartzi(USA). Those in charge of presenting the event were Queen Mary and Serko Fu, two references within the scene, DJ Sonicko and the judges were Jony Beltrán, Arkano, Mozart La Para, Blazzt and Muphasa.
